Kai thought he must have actually died back on Asmarata and maybe this was hell.
His own slippery, humid, wet, personal brand of hell.
Slamming his foot down on the front pedal and turning the throttle in his clenched fist, he tried to race ahead of the storm clouds.
Maybe if he finished fast enough then it would be over before the first of the rains began.
And all the while, he cursed at the Gods and desperately wiped the water away from his face through the now cumbersome helmet.
If he could only go just a little faster.
