The residual adrenaline was still coursing through him when Uriel let go and his father scooped him up into a tight hug that knocked the breath out of him.
He gasped as a white-hot shot of pain tore through his shoulder, but before he could voice it, Uriel subtly pressed his hand against his back, and a soothing warmth ebbed through his every nerve and muscle; he could even feel the joint pop back into place without a moment of discomfort.
He tilted his head and mouthed a silent thank you, the happy smile still lighting up every delicate feature of his face.
Uri beamed back and winked, mouthing the words, 'You owe me food.'
Kai disentangled himself from his father's hold with a bright laugh.
"Alright, enough." He patted his hand against his arm indulgently.
