The morning sun broke through the heavy curtains of the bedchamber, casting long, golden streaks across the wooden floorboards. Odesse stirred slowly, the deep exhaustion of her week-long journey still lingering in her muscles, but as her eyes opened, the familiar carvings of the room brought a sudden wave of reality. She was truly home.
The door creaked open softly, and Cara stepped inside, carrying a small steaming ceramic cup. A warm, quiet smile broke across her face when she saw Odesse sitting up.
"I figured you'd be awake," Cara said softly, walking over to set the cup on the small bedside table. "I brought you some mint tea. It's not quite the exotic spices of that place you described, but I hoped it would make you feel grounded."
