"Miss, please stop. Mr. Richard is very busy and cannot be disturbed right now," Lucas said in a firm tone, attempting to block Jane's path as she marched down the corridor toward the main study.
Jane, however, acted as if she were deaf. The rhythmic strike of her high heels thundered against the marble floor, creating an echo laden with fury.
"I don't need your permission or your empty words, Lucas!" Jane snapped, continuing to press forward. Her breath was ragged, and the glint in her eyes signaled that she was prepared to destroy anything in her way.
Without knocking, Jane wrenched the massive door open.
Richard Alexander looked up from his desk. The expensive pen he was using to sign a stack of vital documents halted mid-air. Lucas appeared in the doorway, his face etched with apology, but Richard offered only a slight wave of his hand.
"Let her in, Lucas. Close the door," Richard said coldly. He leaned back, regarding Jane with a calmness that felt inherently intimidating.
