Chapter 36 - What is your plan?

"HUH, YOU ARE GOING TO THE UNIVERSITY FOR AN EXAM?!"

After Min-jun was able to control his awakened power, he went to his neighbour, the siblings of Sung, Sung Jin-woo and Sung Jinah, in the morning.

Yes, he had known those two since childhood, and that was also why he wasn't that lonely.

Naturally, they cared about him, as he often lent them money for their mother's hospital fee, since Jin-woo's income as a Hunter was so low. Despite being the protagonist, Jin-woo was the weakest hunter in the beginning.

Yet this was also how deeply Jin-woo's desire to grow stronger ran, as he wanted to repay Min-jun, give his little sister, Sung Jinah, a proper life, and take care of his mother, who was in the hospital.

However, without a doubt, when Jin-woo heard that instead of going to the Hunter's Association to take a test, gain a licence, and become one of the most powerful hunters in South Korea... Min-jun wanted to go to university to take an exam, ignoring the bright opportunity that came from being a hunter.

"What do you mean, Oppa?!" Still, Jinah supported Min-jun's decision as she even looked at Jin-woo angrily. "The mid-term exam is important! What if he gets a bad score after studying so hard?! Also, instead of being a hunter, Min-jun Oppa can take a good job at a good company, why should he endanger himself?!"

"...." Jin-woo.

He wanted to say something, but he knew he couldn't, since, unlike him, Min-jun had been accepted into SNU, and his future was clear: he would be working in those chabol companies, living in a high-income job.

So, even if Min-jun didn't work as a Hunter, everything would be fine.

Moreover, as a Hunter, Jin-Woo also understood how dangerous this job was, as many of them often died, or even worse, were disabled, losing their limbs from the dangerous monsters that suddenly emerged during their time in the dungeon.

Yet, was Min-jun going to give up on the path to becoming a Hunter?

It was a shame, right?

"Don't say that, Jinah. Hyung is just worried about me, and I will go to the association later, but it won't be later after I finish my exam, right?"

"You are going to be the Hunter, Oppa?" Jinah asked worriedly.

Min-jun looked at Jinah, and he knew well that she had also grown beautifully from the little brat in the past, simple, lively, with long purple hair that she tied in a simple ponytail, and when he thought of his deceased grandmother's words—

No, no.

Let's put aside his thoughts.

"It can't be helped since it is mandatory, and this country is in dire need of a Hunter. More importantly..."

Like the original South Korea, which mandated 2 years of military service for all men, naturally, as it was the weakest country in terms of hunters, every hunter was important to the country, and they were expected to work and fight in the dungeons when the gates opened on the country.

Naturally, they were paid, though fortunately with a lot of money.

"More importantly?" 2x

"I am an archer. I should be fighting on the back instead of the front line."

"Archer?" Jinah was curious. "Is that the one with the bow and arrow?"

"That one."

"Archer..." Jin-woo murmured, and frankly, he couldn't say that being an archer was good, as it was one of the weakest jobs among the hunters

When one became a hunter, they would randomly become either Warriors, Mages, Tankers, Assassins, Archers, or Healers.

In Jin-Woo's mind, the best job would be a warrior, as it was strong in close combat, had high defence, was fast, and was simply a complete type of hunter that could do everything.

While Archer might be okay compared to the Healer, who could only do support, it was weak in close combat, and the job of this profession was usually to cover everyone from behind and take down those monsters that suddenly came out from the blind spot.

In other words, even if Min-Jun was an S-Rank, he was as squishy as ever. After all, Archer was famous for having a weak defense, yet at the same time, Min-Jun was also safe, as he had always positioned himself behind his teammates.

Moreover, if Jin-Woo wasn't wrong, the Archer usually had a unique skill known as the "Eagle Eye," which was indispensable for scouting.

"What are you going to do after you register, Min-jun?" Jin-Woo asked.

"I am not sure, but what do you think, Hyung?"

While Min-jun had an idea about what he wanted to do, he decided to ask Jin-Woo's opinion. It wasn't that he thought that Jin-Woo could help him, but if he didn't ask, he was afraid that this friend of his might feel even more inferior, especially with Jin-Woo's status as the weakest Hunter "currently."

In Solo Leveling, Jin-woo might become the idol for everyone, but previously, before he got the system, he was the weakest hunter and had always lowered his head.

Still, while Jin-Woo was weak now, he would become strong in the future, so instead of trying to be arrogant and telling him that there was nothing that Jin-Woo could do, Min-Jun approached Jin-Woo as a naive newbie, who asked about Jin-Woo's opinion, as Jin-Woo had been working as a hunter for a long time.

"...."

Only, Jin-Woo wasn't sure how to answer, since Min-Jun's situation was different, and looking at the two of them, he didn't really want to disappoint them.

"L-Let me ask about my colleagues first."

Anyway, Jin-Woo had encountered many good hunters in his life, and they had supported each other despite being weak, so he thought that he should ask them.

"...." Min-jun.

"Okay, thank you, Hyung."

"But, Oppa, you must have an idea what you will do, right?" Jinah quickly asked, feeling that, compared to her older brother, who made her worried all the time, Min-jun was someone she relied on the most, and frankly, Jin-woo's IQ was worrying her.

"....." Jin-woo.

"Well..." Min-jun thought for a moment and said, "I might sign a contract with those who give me the most income, the least work, and have the most complete support. As I am an archer, I need good teammates. Also, more importantly, this guild will allow me to finish my studies instead of forcing me to fight in the dungeon."

"...."

Jin-Woo was speechless, wondering whether there was a guild or an organization that would give such a free lunch like that, as it was normal for one to pay or make an effort for the organization, right?

"That's good!"

Only, Jinah quickly cheered Min-jun up and kissed his cheek!

"Treat me to a feast at an expensive hotel when you sign a great deal, Oppa!"

"..." Min-jun and Jin-woo.

Min-jun rubbed his cheek and said, "Let's talk later since I need to finish my exam."

"Okay, also, eat first! I have cooked you a meal."

"Okay, thank you, Jinah. Thank you, Hyung, too." Min-jun didn't forget to thank Jin-woo.

"No, it's okay, but if you need my help, just tell me, okay?"

"Yes." Min-jun nodded. Frankly, there wasn't much help that Jin-Woo could do, but the kind gesture alone was enough, and since he also knew that Jin-Woo meant well, he nodded with a gentle smile, which made their breakfast time enjoyable.

As for how close Jinah and Min-jun were, Jin-Woo didn't really mind, as he had to admit that, instead of giving his little sister to a random guy that he didn't know, it was better for his little sister to be with Min-jun, who was mature and capable.

Still, while Min-jun had solved the problem at home, when he arrived at the university, he saw a group of people in black suits blocking his path. They exuded a pressure that forced people to submit and made those around them nervous, especially students who just wanted to enter the university.

Then, a single man walked towards him, bowing deeply, yet despite his polite gesture, his words contained an undeniable order, "Hunter-nim. Please come with us to the association for your official measurement."

"...." Min-jun.

By the way, I have been thinking of the 4th Suzuki, but let me think of your idea of what world that do you think he should be.

Let me know.
