Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: The Executioner of Demon Kings

Around the year 1200, a True Ancestor was born. Initially, she was just like any other naturally occurring True Ancestor, but as she grew, the others soon discovered that her specifications were far superior to the rest.

Consequently, she was subjected to an education focused on dealing with "Fallen True Ancestors."

"Has another of our kin fallen..."

Within the Millennium Castle, a heavy voice suddenly spoke from around a square table. As he spoke, he turned his gaze toward a figure amidst the sea of flowers in the courtyard.

The girl, who would look up at the moon like an idiot, stood quietly in the courtyard's sea of flowers, with a giant, golden moon hanging overhead.

In that courtyard where everything returned to decay, only her figure remained vivid. Anyone who saw her would marvel at how beautiful she was.

As a True Ancestor, she could read information directly from the "World" to locate Demon Kings. She possessed knowledge of human society and the necessary information to live within it, but these were not her own experiences; they were information read directly from the "World" or taught to her by Merem Solomon.

She was the Princess of the True Ancestors, the Executioner of Demon Kings, Arcueid Brunestud.

Her fingers twitched slightly. As if sensing something, the girl lowered her head from the moon and began walking toward the edge of the courtyard.

A few days later, at Fuyuki City Airport.

A girl of about seventeen, with short pale-yellow hair, red cat-like eyes, and exceptionally beautiful features, walked out of the airport.

Looking only at her appearance, everyone would likely assume she was just a seventeen-year-old cool beauty; no one would suspect her actual age was between 800 and 900 years.

That being said, her actual time spent active in the outside world was less than a single year.

Expressionlessly following Merem Solomon's instructions, Arcueid first found a hotel to stay in. After leaving her luggage there, she went out to search for the Demon King's location.

"A few days ago, a decapitated body was found near the Mion River. Following a police investigation, the victim's identity has been confirmed as Kirei Kotomine, a priest at the Fuyuki Church..."

The voice of a reporter on television reached her ears. Arcueid walked expressionlessly toward the place where the scent of her own kind was strongest.

"Boss, another serving of curry!"

As she passed a Chinese restaurant called Koshu Enseikan Taishan, Arcueid heard a voice full of vigor, and then she felt a gaze from inside the shop.

The gaze lingered on Arcueid for only a few seconds before focusing back on the food on the table, as if giving up.

"Anyway, that fellow Akatsuki won't just leave a True Ancestor alone. Maybe she even came specifically to find Akatsuki. I don't need to worry about it."

When Ciel looked out the door again, Arcueid's figure had already vanished.

"As I thought, curry really is the best!"

Inside Privately-run Homurahara Academy.

Akatsuki was wearing her school uniform and teasing a female classmate when she suddenly felt a chill. "Hmm? What's going on? Why do I have a bad feeling?"

Watching the classmate break free from her hand and scurry away as if escaping, Akatsuki waved her hand and used the power of her Mystic Eyes to erase the girl's memory of her. Turning around, she found Tohsaka Rin and Matou Sakura looking at her with complex expressions.

"Hiss, when did you two get here?"

"Take a guess?"

Facing Tohsaka Rin's "harmonious" smile, Akatsuki felt a hint of pressure for some reason. Even the usually gentle Matou Sakura had a trace of anger on her face.

Tohsaka Rin's smiling face and Matou Sakura's worried look caused the pressure Akatsuki felt to multiply over time. An invisible aura spread between the three of them.

Seeing things weren't right, Akatsuki chuckled sheepishly and tried to explain, "Is it possible I was just joking with a classmate?"

Tohsaka Rin crossed her arms and sneered, "Is that so? Then why don't you explain to us what exactly you mean by 'joking'?"

Matou Sakura lowered her head and said softly, "Please don't do this anymore. Neither Sister nor I want to have a conflict with you..."

Seeing the situation was bad, Akatsuki hurriedly tried to apologize, but at that moment, the school bell suddenly rang.

"Lucky you. I'll have a good talk with you when we get home!"

Tohsaka Rin glared at Akatsuki, while Matou Sakura looked at Akatsuki with some concern and said, "Akatsuki, actually, both Sister and I don't want you to become a playgirl who toys with people's feelings."

Akatsuki:?

Ten days passed in a flash. The Doll prepared for Illya was finished, and the ritual to transfer her personality and consciousness would take place tonight. The greater grail had shown no movement yet, which made Akatsuki start to feel worried.

Lord El-Melloi II had lost contact for some reason. However, a few days ago, Akatsuki saw on the news that a plane from London to Fuyuki had crashed, which made her wonder if Lord El-Melloi II might have been on that plane.

"I hope he's okay."

Thinking this, Akatsuki walked into the Student Council room and happened to run into the Student Council President, Ryudou Kuzuki, who had just finished his work.

"Oh, it's just Akatsuki."

After realizing it was Akatsuki, Ryudou Kuzuki handed her the keys to the Student Council room, gave her a few instructions, and then left.

"Don't always skip class. As Emiya's friend, I have an obligation to pull you back if you go astray."

Sitting in the Student Council President's chair, Akatsuki propped her legs up on the table.

Another thing was that Shinji Matou had disappeared to who-knows-where without a single trace of news. A few days ago, the Fuyuki City police came to Privately-run Homurahara Academy to investigate, and it seemed he had been listed as a missing person.

Akatsuki absentmindedly flipped through the Student Council documents while thinking about her next plan. Her thoughts were scattered. After a while, she decided to ignore the matter of Shinji Matou for now; the priority was ensuring tonight's ritual went smoothly.

If tonight's ritual went smoothly, things would be much easier. She would have Tohsaka Rin use magecraft to sever the connection between Illya and the greater grail, and then wait for Lord El-Melloi II to arrive in Fuyuki City to find a way to dismantle the greater grail.

Even if an accident occurred, they could keep Illya's consciousness intact. Although her original body might be unusable, at least her life would be saved.

When the time came, she would give Touko Aozaki more compensation to have her make a few more Dolls just in case.

Everything seemed to be going according to Akatsuki's plan, but for some reason, she felt something was off. Ciel had been thoroughly subdued by her, so she shouldn't suddenly come to cause trouble.

"Just why is that..."
