Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Gradually Returning to the Right Track

Akatsuki looked at the greater grail sitting on the nightstand and frowned. "Since no one is using it, I'll take it for myself."

Akatsuki compared the size of the greater grail to her mouth, then opened wide and swallowed it whole.

"Oh!?"

After swallowing the greater grail, Akatsuki's body emitted a strange light, just like the atmosphere lights in a KTV, while a wondrous sensation welled up inside her.

"So this is the Third Magic..."

Third Magic: Materialization of the Soul.

In other words, it is a magic that achieves complete immortality; upon its completion, one will obtain an infinite source of magical energy as the soul becomes a perpetual motion machine.

"Although the immortality part overlaps a bit with my own settings, the more magical energy, the better. It'll be convenient for doing big things in the future."

And so, the Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City officially came to a close. Akatsuki, who had barged in halfway, became the victor of the Fifth Holy Grail War and successfully obtained the greater grail.

Lord El-Melloi II and Tohsaka Rin worked together in the Great Underground Cavern of Mount Enzou to set up a large-scale magecraft to prevent the Holy Grail War from ever being reopened. Although it was a bit redundant for a Fuyuki City that had already lost its greater grail, having some security was better than none.

Shirou Emiya continued to strive toward becoming a hero of justice, frequently being mocked by Archer for it. Even though Akatsuki had erased the fact of Archer being a Counter Guardian, mocking Shirou Emiya's ideals seemed to have become Archer's hobby.

After the Fifth Holy Grail War, the news of Akatsuki obtaining the Grail was suppressed. Consequently, the head of the Einzbern Family believed they had failed to obtain the Grail once again and shut down their main power supply.

Illya also stayed in Fuyuki City, temporarily living at Raiga Fujimura's home. She often got into heated arguments with Taiga Fujimura over trivial matters, with Shirou Emiya frequently caught in the crossfire.

Ciel returned to the Burial Agency, reportedly dissolving her partnership with her junior, Noel. Noel, in turn, got her wish and secured a job that didn't involve running around the front lines against Dead Apostles: protecting the new overseer of the Fuyuki City area at the Fuyuki Church—Kallen Ortensia.

Kallen Ortensia, Kirei Kotomine's daughter and the new overseer of the Fuyuki City area, took over Kirei Kotomine's position in Fuyuki.

For some reason, Rider had a soft spot for Ayako Misuzu and always looked for chances to get close to her. After the Fifth Holy Grail War, the abundant magical energy within Matou Sakura was enough to allow Rider to remain in the world.

As for the magical energy for Archer and Saber to remain in the world, it was jointly provided by Akatsuki and Tohsaka Rin. Although it would have been easy for Akatsuki to sustain them both alone, she always found excuses for mana transfer with Tohsaka Rin.

The Matou Family was completely ruined. The Mages Association formally seized most of the Matou Family's spiritual pulses around the world through "legitimate" means, while Matou Sakura inherited the remaining small portion.

Matou Sakura had no interest in this, so at Akatsuki's suggestion, Lord El-Melloi II took temporary charge of these spiritual pulses. Furthermore, the profits from Matou Zouken's magecraft patents within the Mages Association were deposited directly into Matou Sakura's account every month.

Matou Sakura also officially began exploring her own magecraft. Although the Imaginary Element is a very rare magical attribute, it is not unique. Through her hard work, she successfully fused Matou Zouken's butterfly magecraft to create her own: Imaginary Butterflies.

Under the guidance of Lord El-Melloi II, Matou Sakura gradually refined this magecraft. The Imaginary Butterflies she created could serve as reconnaissance Familiars as well as suicide-attack Familiars.

They utilized the characteristics of the Imaginary Element to travel back and forth within the Imaginary Space. Because they were constructed entirely of imaginary numbers, touching skin would cause Imaginary Number Erosion.

This made Tohsaka Rin quite envious. Although Tohsaka Tokiomi had left her a considerable inheritance and magecraft patents, they were managed by Kirei Kotomine before she came of age. The destitute priest was not good at managing such things, and most of them were snatched away by other Magicians in the meantime.

What remained could no longer keep up with the times, nor could it provide effective financial support for Rin. To support her training in Jewel Sorcery, Tohsaka Rin had no choice but to don her shrine maiden outfit once again.

As days passed, Fuyuki City gradually became peaceful. Privately-run Homurahara Academy successfully resumed classes at the appropriate time. It was said that they had even strengthened their countermeasures against gas leaks, even holding unscheduled emergency drills for such incidents.

Sometimes, people would see a nun from the Fuyuki Church in the infirmary of Privately-run Homurahara Academy. As for the infirmary itself, students would have a complicated expression whenever it was mentioned.

"After going through hardships, everyone looks like they've found salvation. This kind of scene is just wonderful, meow."

Akatsuki looked at Neco Arc, who was wearing a waitress outfit, and her mouth twitched. Why did she (?), a gag character, keep appearing in world lines where she didn't belong?

"Young lady, would you like to order?"

Inside a cafe named Ahnenerbe, a voice full of amusement rang out. Neco Arc Chaos, who was puffing on a cigar, looked toward Akatsuki.

"..."

Akatsuki had walked into the cafe with a skeptical attitude, but now she was certain: she had definitely stumbled into the wrong world line!

It must be some official work where the creators went off the deep end.

"Don't doubt it, you haven't entered another world," Neco Arc Chaos reminded her with an amused voice. "This cafe was built with the involvement of the Second Magus, so it always exists in the cracks between worlds."

At his (?) reminder, Akatsuki finally recalled the relevant setting.

Just then, the phone in the shop rang. Neco Arc spiraled up from behind the counter, holding a cocktail shaker for some reason. Setting the shaker down, she (?) picked up the phone.

"Mm-hmm, this is Ahnenerbe. Huh? We don't sell mapo tofu here, meow! How annoying, meow! Hmph."

An irritated Neco Arc tossed the phone back and spiraled back down behind the counter. Then, the phone rang again.

Unable to take it anymore, Neco Arc grabbed the phone. "How many times do I have to say it?! This shop sells curry!"

The next moment, she (?) froze.

"That's not it? Huh? The festival is about to begin? The time of the wild banquet?!"

A wild banquet!

Akatsuki: "..."

"I'm going back."

"Wait! Wait!"

Neco Arc hurriedly grabbed Akatsuki. "Someone as beautiful as you... to me, it's like looking in a mirror!"

"Then I'll just smash the mirror!"
