Star Rage.
Yuki Tsukumo.
Innate Technique: Star Rage (Mass).
Effect: Grants an overwhelming amount of 'virtual mass' to physical attacks, while placing absolutely no burden or actual weight on the user's body.
Special Shikigami: Garuda. The only object outside of Yuki's own body that can be imbued with this virtual mass.
Because Mirai possessed future knowledge from the manga, he knew all about Yuki Tsukumo's abilities. Aside from her suicidal, world-ending black hole attack—which required a bit of caution—the rest of the mysterious Special Grade's arsenal was manageable.
Facing the Shikigami hurtling down from high above, Mirai made a split-second decision. He canceled Kamui's intangibility effect. He intentionally wanted to experience the existence of 'virtual mass' with his own body.
BANG!!!
Blood splattered! The earth caved in, slamming downward to form a bottomless circular crater!
Unsurprisingly, it was more than a simple impact of weight.
The terrifying mass that erupted upon contact possessed the conceptual ability to shatter and penetrate any entity that obstructed it in the real world.
Mirai waved his broken, mangled hand. In the blink of an eye, it was perfectly restored to its original state via Reverse Cursed Technique.
He stood still, seemingly lost in thought as he analyzed the sensation.
'Virtual mass is indeed useful, and its power is quite good,' Mirai thought.
…
If it weren't for the pool of scarlet blood still remaining on the ground, Mirai's calm and composed expression would make it seem as if he hadn't just been maimed.
Yuki, who had landed steadily from the sky, suddenly became incredibly serious.
She had her own network of contacts. Having lived abroad for years didn't mean she was ignorant of Japan's affairs. She possessed the exact same intelligence reports about Zenin Mirai's capabilities as the rest of Jujutsu High.
'That attack shouldn't have hit,' Yuki thought, her eyes narrowing.
Her plan had been to strike him with Garuda. When the Shikigami inevitably passed harmlessly through his intangible body, she would force Garuda to self-destruct inside him, creating spatial turbulence to disrupt his technique. Then, she would unleash her Domain Expansion in quick succession to deliver the final, decisive blow.
As a result, for a fraction of a second when she saw Mirai's blood actually splatter, Yuki was momentarily dazed.
Garuda had already shot straight through his hand and buried itself deep into the bedrock, missing the crucial opportunity to detonate. Her entire combo was ruined because Mirai simply took the hit.
...
Miles away from the battlefield, a hidden, dark crack appeared in the night sky.
Kenjaku sat cross-legged atop the head of a stealth Cursed Spirit, observing the battlefield from afar using a cursed spyglass.
'The Shikigami pierced right through Mirai's palm?'
Kenjaku was even more surprised than Yuki.
'Did Mirai do that intentionally, or is the effect of Tsukumo's technique truly that special?'
Without personally experiencing Star Rage, it was impossible to judge its rules by sight alone. To avoid arousing suspicion, Kenjaku hadn't dared to cover the battlefield with a perception barrier.
Zenin Mirai...
Kenjaku rubbed his stitched forehead. Mirai had lured him out, forced him to hand over important information, and used Kenjaku's own plans as a springboard for his future goals. Mirai's strength was comparable to Sukuna's, but he wasn't as arrogant or reckless as Gojo Satoru.
Calling him a cunning old fox wouldn't be an exaggeration. He was a massive headache.
As he sighed, Kenjaku's face suddenly froze.
Through the spyglass, he saw Mirai turn his head. Those blood-red eyes looked up, staring directly at the microscopic crack in space from miles away.
'Those eyes have an observational ability that surpasses even the Six Eyes!' Kenjaku realized in horror.
Kenjaku smiled wryly. He immediately waved his hand, closing the crack and fleeing the Shibuya barrier entirely.
...
A cautious, ancient turtle.
Mirai turned his gaze away from the sky, silently making his assessment of Kenjaku.
'He possesses an open Domain and ample patience to hide for a thousand years. His layout is intricately linked. He is truly an old bastard.'
The time to kill Kenjaku was approaching in the coming days. Now was not the time to alert him further or reveal all his cards to the spying brain.
A crimson glint flashed in Mirai's eyes, and a massive surge of Cursed Energy erupted forth!
"CAREFUL!!" Yuki shouted.
The group of Sorcerers quickly retreated back to Yuki's side, bracing for an attack.
But the anticipated attack did not occur.
Instead, massive, blood-red wooden roots erupted from the edges of the crater. They surged upward, weaving together to tightly enclose the entire battlefield in a massive, impenetrable dome.
Kusakabe tightened his grip on his katana and swallowed hard.
The coverage effect, far exceeding the scope of a normal Domain, led him to believe Mirai intended to trap and exterminate all the Sorcerers here and now.
In reality, Mirai's only concern was that Kenjaku might have other methods to hide in the shadows and watch. By wrapping the battlefield in the roots of the Gedo Mazo, he ensured absolute privacy without scaring the ancient Sorcerer into hiding for another millennium.
While the Sacred Tree created a closed stage, the Kamui void beside Mirai quietly swallowed up the last remaining ambient Cursed Energy and negative emotions within Shibuya.
On the other side of the dome, Yuki was rapidly whispering a battle plan to Todo, Yuji, and the others.
Choso, squeezed among the Jujutsu Sorcerers, looked incredibly out of place. But he didn't care. He stayed firmly by Yuji's side, determined to protect his younger human brother. Upon hearing Yuki's instructions, Choso met Yuji's gaze and nodded in agreement.
The planning lasted only a few seconds.
As Mirai finished absorbing the negative energy, he looked down at them.
"What exactly is your relationship with that brain-in-a-jar?" Yuki demanded, stepping forward.
The enclosed battlefield, obscuring the night sky, was dim. The crimson glint in Mirai's eyes was far more striking than his spotless white robes.
'Are ants questioning humanity? Are mortals questioning the gods?'
Mirai was not good-natured enough to explain his grand design to ordinary people.
A Special Grade? A beautiful woman?
To Mirai, even the blonde Yuki Tsukumo was less important than Nobara Kugisaki—at least White Zetsu had bothered to plead for Nobara's life.
"This is your last chance," Mirai's voice echoed through the dark dome, simple, direct, and forceful.
"Either get out... or die."
BOOM!
Yuki didn't hesitate. She lunged forward with absolute frenzy!
With lightning speed, she delivered a devastating punch aimed straight at Mirai's profile! The dim space was instantly illuminated by the sky-blue Cursed Energy coating her fist.
This punch from Yuki not only possessed the crushing weight of virtual mass, but she had also layered it with Simple Domain to bypass any innate techniques he might try to use!
She truly deserved the title of Special Grade.
Unfortunately, the Mangekyou Sharingan's dynamic kinetic capture was far more powerful than she imagined.
Mirai's eyes flashed crimson. He shifted his weight, perfectly tracking her fist, ready to retaliate and end her life.
"DON'T MOVE!!!"
A voice rang out from the back of the group.
Toge Inumaki, the Cursed Speech user, had lowered his collar and screamed with everything he had!
