"In the time of David, what do you think has been completed?" Asked Yeshua with a smile. I looked around looking for someone to answer because I don't know. Then James slowly raised his hand. "Yes, Little James?" Asked Yeshua, still with a smile. "The monarchy has been established beginning from King Saul from the house of Benjamin then was succeeded by King David from the house of Judah because God chose David over Saul for David is the Man after God's own heart. Signifying the beginning of the Davidic reign." Answered James. Oh, wow… I only heard the story of David highlighting his win against Goliath and his… his affair with Bathsheba.
"Thank you for your answer, Little James," thanked Yeshua with a smile while looking at James. "Now, let me tell you all a story," said Yeshua with a hint of excitement in His voice. Everyone kept quiet and waited for Yeshua's words. "There were three siblings. The youngest was in trouble because of something that he was accused of that he didn't do. Now, the youngest will face punishment because of the trouble that he didn't do. Who do you think helped the youngest with the trouble that he's in?" Asked Yeshua as He looked around.
"The eldest!" Yelled one from the crowd.
"It is expected, right?"
"That's the responsibility of the eldest."
"It is the eldest."
"How about the middle then?"
"What about the middle?"
"I'm confident that the eldest took care of it."
"Well, the middle could have done something too, you know."
"What could the middle possibly do?"
"I'll go with the eldest."
And a debate began from the crowd. "Can we continue with the story?!" Asked Simon as he looked back from the crowd who were still debating. One to another, they stopped each other from talking then looked at Simon who kept on looking at them. When the crowd finally quieted down, Simon said, "thank you!"
"The middle helped the youngest." And with that one sentence, 2/3rds of the crowd was disappointed while the others were glad that they answered right. Yeshua chuckled while looking at them. "That doesn't make sense! What happened to the eldest then?" Asked one man from the crowd.
"Well, the eldest and the middle caused trouble to the youngest but only the middle is willing to help the youngest. Between the two elder brothers, only the middle is willing to repent and pay the price of the punishment that is given to the youngest for the trouble that he and the eldest had done. He took the responsibility that the eldest is not willing to take." Answered Yeshua as He gestures with His hands. While still sitting down on the concrete outside the cafe.
"What does it have to do with David then?" Asked a woman from the crowd. Rude! "David is from the house of Judah. Out of the twelve tribes of Israel, he came from the lineage of Judah. Judah is one of the middle children of Jacob. Reuben is the eldest and Benjamin is the youngest. Now, who among you knows what happens when they get to see Joseph again after selling him?" Answered and asked Yeshua with a smile. "Yes, Tabitha,"
"Judah is the one who told his brothers to sell Joseph to the Ishmaelites. Then when they saw Joseph again in Egypt — because they were there to buy grains — they did not recognize him and the 10 of them bowed down to Joseph. Joseph asked them to bring Benjamin when they come back again to buy grains because famine fell in all the land. When they came back to Egypt with Benjamin, Joseph offered them a meal to eat with him. And when the brothers were finished and going home, Benjamin was set up that he was the one who took the silver cup of Joseph. But then Judah volunteered himself to bear the punishment of Benjamin, giving up his freedom and life in exchange for Benjamin's which their brother Joseph had asked." Answered Tabitha without stuttering. That's… wow…
"Thank you so much, Tabitha," thanked Yeshua to her with a smile and while looking at her. "What's the connection then?" Asked one man from the crowd. Yeshua sighed. "Oh, you poor generation," said Yeshua to himself while looking at the crowd.
"It was Judah's willingness to sacrifice himself in exchange for Benjamin's that God had chosen his descendants to reign and to lead the people of Israel. And David is one of Judah's descendants." I said as I kept my focus on Yeshua who looked at me as soon as I spoke. Then He smiled as He sighed.
"The completion of Judah's blessing," said Yeshua with a faint smile as He kept looking at me.
