Chapter 84 - Chapter 80: Coming Home

The morning sun hit the balcony of the beach villa, but the golden light couldn't wash away the lingering shadow of what had happened. Despite yesterday's breakthrough and the quiet comfort they had found in the dark, the beach no longer felt like a paradise to Jay. Every time she looked at the rolling waves, a cold knot twisted in her stomach.

Keifer noticed it immediately. He found her standing by the glass doors, staring blankly out at the shore while the twins slept peacefully in their cribs.

He walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder. "We don't have to stay, you know."

Jay turned in his arms, looking up at him with a mix of relief and hesitation. "Are you sure? We planned for a whole week..."

"A week was an idea. Peace of mind is reality," Keifer said softly, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "This place... it served its purpose. We came here to reset, but all it's done is keep us on edge. Let's go home, Jay."

The decision felt like an immediate weight lifting off her chest.

Within a few hours, the packing was done. The chaos of diapers, tiny swimsuits, and backup bottles was crammed back into suitcases. The flight home was a quiet, smooth journey, with Keira and Jayden sleeping for most of the trip, blissfully unaware of the emotional storm their parents had weathered.

When their private car finally pulled through the iron gates of the Watson estate, Jay let out a long, shuddering breath. The sprawling, familiar architecture, the manicured gardens, and the heavy oak front doors had never looked so good. It wasn't just a house; it was a fortress. It was safety.

As they stepped inside the grand foyer, the cool, quiet air enveloped them like a warm blanket. The staff rushed forward to take the bags, greeting them with respectful nods, but Keifer waved them off gently, wanting this moment to be just for their little family.

Upstairs in the nursery, they laid the twins down in their own cribs. Keira and Jayden didn't even stir as they were tucked under their favorite blankets, instantly settling into the familiar comfort of their own room.

Jay stood by the cribs for a long moment, watching them breathe, before walking down the hall to the master bedroom. She kicked off her shoes, letting them drop unceremoniously to the floor, and collapsed backward onto the massive, plush mattress.

A moment later, the mattress dipped as Keifer crawled up beside her, leaning over her with a tired, affectionate smile. He propped his chin on his hands, looking down at her.

"Well," Keifer murmured, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. "Back to reality. No crabs, no ocean monsters, and absolutely no beach towels."

Jay let out a genuine, relaxed laugh—the first one that felt completely light in days. She reached up, grabbing the lapels of his shirt and pulling him down until he was resting beside her, burying her face against his chest.

"Home," she whispered against his shirt, her eyes drifting closed as she listened to the steady, anchoring beat of his heart.

Keifer wrapped his arms securely around her, pulling her flush against him. As the quiet of the estate settled around them, they both knew the world outside would eventually catch up—the expectations, the legacy, the endless demands of their high-society life. But for right now, wrapped up in each other within the safety of their own home, they were invincible.
