"Knights subservient to you?"
Glancing at the sword-wielding girl standing at the entrance, Athena quickly withdrew her attention.
To her-now that she had recovered her "Serpent"-any number of knights at Erica and Liliana's level were nothing more than sacrificial lambs.
They posed no threat.
They would be petrified and killed instantly by her Petrification Demon Eye.
A power that could even affect a Campione was not something mere humans could resist.
Of course, in Athena's eyes, although Hiro carried the aura of a human, he did not belong to the category of humans at all.
"They're somewhat useful. Their power can't compare to ours, but they're useful in other aspects."
As he spoke, Hiro waved casually, signaling Erica and Liliana to stand beside him.
"Somewhat useful?"
The Goddess of Wisdom raised an eyebrow, sensing something off, and looked at him with a half-smile-completely forgetting that she had been fighting him to the death moments ago.
"Such as?"
"For instance... for instance..."
Seeing Athena suddenly take interest, Hiro glanced left and right and paused.
Erica on his left looked at him with an expression of complete trust.
Liliana on his right wore a pitiful look, like a small animal abandoned by its owner.
Such as what?
At best, they were good for running errands and occasional fan service. Maybe a backup fire extinguisher.
Those were facts.
The honest truth.
But saying that out loud would be letting their hard work go unrewarded.
"To convey my orders to ignorant people," Hiro said at last, his expression turning serious. "And to bring my conquest to them."
In short, errand runners.
At most, liaison points.
This assessment, however, secretly delighted both Erica and Liliana, who were listening closely.
I didn't expect the King to think so highly of Lili and me.
I thought we'd only receive a non-essential evaluation.
Knowing the timing was inappropriate, Erica didn't interrupt.
Still, the smile on her face was impossible to hide.
Athena saw it clearly.
I don't quite understand... but this must be King Hiro praising our performance, right?
I'm just a minor knight, yet I've received such praise.
Liliana lowered her gaze slightly, trying to hide her blushing face.
At the same time, inspiration surged through her mind.
Ah, one day, the Maou who ravaged the earth decided to...
because of a small girl...
"I see."
The Goddess of Wisdom nodded, her smile deepening.
"Ahem."
Clearing his throat to cover the embarrassment of having his thoughts seen through, Hiro brought the drifting conversation back on track.
"Athena. About your earlier suggestion-if the effect is real, I have no objection."
He looked at her seriously.
"So the question is this. To warrant such a sacrifice from the Goddess of Wisdom, what exactly do you want from me?"
Judging from the sudden shift caused by the fleeting [False Star Tai Sui], Hiro could already guess her goal.
If Athena needed help from the [False Star Tai Sui], or sought the truth of that world, he wouldn't mind indulging her.
But if she pushed too far, there would be no room for negotiation.
"My request is simple."
A look of nostalgia slowly surfaced on Athena's beautiful, sacred face.
She raised her right hand lightly, pointing her index finger toward the space in front of Hiro, her palms crossed beneath her jaw.
"Put me inside that 'thing' of yours."
"And ideally... don't ever release me this time."
...
Hiro understood perfectly what "that thing" referred to.
The Simulated Astral Diagram-[False Star Tai Sui].
Still, hearing such words spoken by a goddess, with that expression and tone, inevitably invited misunderstanding.
The most obvious examples were the two knights standing beside him, who had only caught fragments of the conversation.
After watching Athena's nostalgic, distracted expression for a moment, Hiro gave up on pursuing that line of thought.
This was a deal where he lost nothing.
Best case scenario remained best case scenario.
Athena wasn't forcing him.
And if the [False Star Tai Sui] ever malfunctioned and needed to be emptied, he could simply throw her out then.
"If that's all you ask," Hiro said calmly, "I can promise you."
"Really!"
Clear surprise flashed across Athena's face.
Without hesitation, she leapt up and crossed the long table between them.
"Then quickly take my power and send me there! Now! Immediately!"
"You only need to kill me. The rest is my work."
"As the deity who personally created the Dark Ritual, deceiving the heavens and crossing the sea is a trivial matter."
"Oh. Oh."
Recalling the fleeting awkwardness from before, Hiro rubbed his nose, set Yuri down from his lap, and took out the golden greatsword.
Concerned about accidentally taking both of Athena's lives at once, he deliberately avoided using the Longinus Lance.
Putting aside their agreement, he was genuinely curious.
What would happen?
What would Athena do?
What changes would she bring after entering the [False Star Tai Sui]?
The King is about to slay a god again?
Then why does this feel so familiar?
Glancing at the golden-haired girl asleep behind Hiro, Erica muttered inwardly and fully suppressed her presence.
On the other side, Liliana did the same.
But her thoughts went in a completely different direction.
Is the King still not planning to become a "..."
Peeking at the movement of the golden greatsword, Liliana lowered her head and said nothing.
