----------------------------------------------------------

While Hiro was still savoring what he had just witnessed, the sky above the shrine had already fallen completely dark.

Even with the sun hanging high overhead, it could not dispel the darkness that belonged to Athena.

Not only that-the area shrouded in darkness continued to expand with time.

At this rate, in less than an hour, the entire Tokyo metropolitan area, spanning hundreds of kilometers, would be completely engulfed.

"Hoh. This power still isn't fully mastered."

Athena, who had regained part of her divinity, clenched and unclenched her right hand twice.

She spoke in a satisfied tone, a faint smile curling at the corner of her lips.

At this moment, Athena had returned to the appearance of a seventeen- or eighteen-year-old girl.

Her clothing had changed into a white robe favored by the Greeks, and a laurel wreath rested upon her head.

She had officially left the "l*li" category and transformed into a white-haired beauty of peerless elegance.

"However, for now, this should be sufficient."

She casually reached out with her right hand, and a pitch-black scythe nearly as tall as her body condensed into her palm.

"Just retrieving a snake, and it's already made you this arrogant, a mere Athena."

Glancing at the more mature Athena, Hiro chuckled softly. His gaze finally settled on her lower abdomen.

A very serious question surfaced in his mind.

In that unimaginably distant mythological era, things like panties, underwear, knickers, or loincloths probably hadn't been invented yet.

So did that mean Athena-who had completed Primitive Regression and declared herself Three-in-One-was currently in the same situation?

Different environments naturally produced different impressions.

This principle applied equally to him and to the goddess Athena.

Otherwise, where would the market for so-called ecchi anime even come from?

The only regret was that Athena's white robe was different from her previous black ribbons.

It wouldn't be penetrated by the side effect of the Eye of Sodom.

Which meant he could no longer see her true form.

Woah.

Casually swinging the scythe twice, Athena noticed Hiro's completely undisguised gaze and frowned deeply, her tone icy with displeasure.

"What a lewd gaze, Campione. No-human. Do you even know what crime it is to blaspheme a goddess in my era?"

When communicating through the owl earlier, Athena had been unable to detect Hiro's true identity.

But at a distance of only several dozen meters, not only his human nature but also the undisguised divinities of Lucifer and Susanoo were laid bare before her senses.

From every angle, this man who had slain multiple Heretic Gods was clearly human.

And yet, he carried the aura of several gods.

What was going on?

Though her words were sharp, confusion churned beneath Athena's surface.

Facing her icy stare, Hiro merely shrugged, expression indifferent.

"I don't know."

"It's being fed to a monster."

Athena smiled-captivating and beautiful-while the vertical pupils in her eyes faintly glowed with dark light.

"Perfect timing. I've just retrieved the snake. I can now deliver the punishment you deserve."

The moment her words fell, a lead-grey hue began spreading rapidly from her feet toward Hiro.

Medusa's Gaze, huh.

I wonder if it works on me.

Hiro glanced down at the creeping petrification, then at the darkness enveloping everything around them.

His right hand tightened, grasping the golden sword that could sever divinity.

Since slaying the Ungodly Verethragna and obtaining the ten Authority Avatars of the [War God of the East], this was the first time he had used this ability.

In the original story, the protagonist used it repeatedly to reverse situations, show off clever maneuvers, and even land kisses.

Yet in Hiro's hands, after facing several Heretic Gods, it hadn't even had a chance to appear.

If Verethragna himself found out, he would probably leap straight out of myth and challenge him to three hundred rounds.

With a single thought, the boundless darkness and petrification were all transferred into the golden sword-realm.

The outside world was left untouched.

As for the rumors of "doomsday," "descending natural disasters," or "the sky collapsing" spreading elsewhere-

That could be dealt with later.

Within the golden world, Athena watched as the lead-grey petrification passed beneath Hiro's feet without spreading even a fraction.

Her eyes widened.

Her voice trembled with disbelief, as if her entire worldview were shattering.

"Cannot petrify? Impossible! This is Medusa's Demonic Eye-the strongest Demonic Eye, one that even gods cannot resist! How could you, a mere human, be unaffected?!"

"Who knows. Maybe I, this human, am just a little special."

Hiro shrugged again, meeting the petrifying gaze head-on without flinching, his expression helpless.

Damn it.

As expected of someone who could slay multiple gods with a human body-he's troublesome.

Glaring at the infuriating face not far away, Athena clenched her teeth.

She extended her free left hand, curling her five fingers slightly, and shouted with bitterness:

"Go, my fangs! Tear the human named Nanamiya Hiro to shreds!"

Crash!

The ground before and behind her exploded apart.

Two pitch-black giant pythons, dozens of meters tall, burst forth and roared-

ROAR!!

(Don't ask why. That's the sound effect in the anime.)

The instant the roar ended, the two colossal pythons moved together, plunging down and snapping their jaws toward the tiny human between them.

Holding the golden sword, facing the assault, Hiro couldn't help recalling a scene from his memory.

"Athena and Medusa were originally-"

Halfway through, he cut himself off.

Peh. What am I even saying?

I didn't take out the sword to sever divinity for this.

Cursing himself inwardly, Hiro swung the golden greatsword in a wide arc.

In the next instant, a visible wave of golden light burst from the blade, piercing straight through both giant pythons before streaking toward the edge of the golden sword-realm.

After devouring all the memories of the Ama-no-Murakumo no Tsurugi and absorbing the Curse Power of Susanoo-no-Mikoto, Hiro had reached the level of a martial god equal to Susanoo in swordsmanship alone.

With the addition of a blade that could sever divinity, this level of attack posed no difficulty.

"It's not over yet!"

Athena leapt down from the collapsing snake corpses, gripping the scythe with both hands and swinging it down toward Hiro, shouting as if to force more strength out of herself.

Before she could land, she saw the human who had repeatedly escaped her grasp let go of the golden sword.

Instead, he opened his right palm toward her.

Faint patterns of stars flickered within it.

"This... what is this?"

It seemed like the birth and evolution of stars and the cosmos.

And also their end-and rebirth.

The mystery contained between the human's five fingers caused Athena's focus to waver for an instant.

Then-

Without warning, the scenery before her eyes abruptly changed.

It was neither the golden world nor the comforting darkness she was familiar with.

It was a world of desolation.

Of silence.

Of absolute lifelessness.

A world of despair, as though "life" had never existed there from beginning to end.

And yet-

This hopeless scene gave Athena, Goddess of Wisdom and War, the Gorgon Medusa, a sense of comfort that surpassed even the darkness.

The extreme contradiction-

That a world which should plunge both mortals and gods into despair instead brought her peace-

Left Athena momentarily unable to comprehend why she had arrived here.

Unfortunately, reality gave her no time to think.

A few seconds later, the scenery before her eyes changed once more.
