Chapter 76 - Chapter 76

THE LENS OF THE PUBLIC

The noodle shop was tucked away in an alley, lit by a single flickering neon sign. Inside, the steam from the broth created a hazy, intimate veil around Kei and Fay's booth. For the first time in a decade, the billionaire and the doctor weren't arguing, they were simply existing in the same space, sharing the quiet ritual of a meal.

But in the digital age, "private" is a relative term.

In a booth three rows back, a college student with a massive social media following recognized the back of Kei's perfectly tailored coat. She didn't move. She didn't ask for an autograph. Instead, she slid her phone out, bracing it against a napkin dispenser.

Click.

The flash was off, but the high-resolution lens captured everything, the way Kei was leaning in, her eyes soft and unguarded, the way Fay was looking down at her tea, a faint, rare blush creeping up her neck and the singular, electric moment where their fingers nearly brushed on the table.

THE VIRAL SPARK

By the time Kei was walking Fay to her car, the photo had already been uploaded with the caption:

Spotted: The 'Lovesick CEO' and her Doctor. No balloons this time. Just them. My heart is screaming. #KeiFay #TheBridge

The internet, which had been mocking Kei's grand gesture only twenty-four hours ago, suddenly shifted its collective mood. The grainy, candid nature of the photo felt more "real" than a thousand balloons.

The Comments Section:

"Look at the way Kei is looking at her! That's not PR, that's soul-crushing love."

"If they don't get back together, I'm deleting all my social media. We need this win."

"A billionaire at a $10 ramen shop for her girl? Stan. We have no choice but to stan."

By midnight, "The Ramen Date" was the top news story. The public wasn't just watching a romance; they were invested in a redemption arc. Luz Group saw another surge in "Lifestyle" brand interest, and the hospital's donation portal began to crash from a flood of small, $10 "pro-Fay" donations from fans across the country.

THE MORNING AFTER

The next morning, the headlines were no longer mocking.

THE BILLIONAIRE AND THE BENEFACTOR: A NEW CHAPTER FOR STERLING HOSPITAL?

Kei woke up to a frantic call from Yumi.

"Ms. Luz, don't look at the news actually, do look at the news. The public sentiment has shifted to 94% positive. You're not a 'simp' anymore; you're a 'romantic icon.' Even the fashion blogs are analyzing the 'date night' look."

But Kei wasn't listening to the numbers. She was staring at the photo on her screen. She saw the look on Fay's face the vulnerability she hadn't been able to see across the table.

Bzzzz

Her phone buzzed again. It was a text from Fay.

Fay:Did you hire that photographer? Tell me the truth, Kei.

Kei's heart sank. The glass bridge was being bombarded by the very public she had accidentally invited in.

Kei: I swear on my life, I didn't. I just wanted to eat noodles with you. I didn't even know anyone was looking.

There was a long pause. The three dots on the screen danced, disappeared, and reappeared.

Fay: My father just called. He saw the photo. He's moved the Board meeting to this afternoon and wants you there to 'discuss the optics' of the endowment. Everyone is watching us now, Kei. Are you happy?

Kei looked at the "Luz Group" stock price, which was at an all-time high and then at the cold coffee on her nightstand. She had the public's support, she had her mother's approval and she had the hospital's board in the palm of her hand.

But she realized with a sinking dread that the more the world cheered for them, the more Fay felt like she was being hunted.
