Chapter 84 - Chapter 84

THE WALL OF GLASS AND GOLD

The heavy glass door of the suite slammed shut with a definitive click. Fay turned the deadbolt, her hands shaking so hard she nearly dropped the key card. She leaned her back against the cool surface, sliding down until she hit the floor, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

Outside, the silhouette of Kei was visible through the sheer curtains. Kei tapped lightly on the glass.

"Fay? Please. Just let me explain. I didn't see any fans, I swear…"

"Go away, Kei!"

Fay shouted, her voice muffled by the door.

"Go sleep outside. Go enjoy the view you bought for us. Just leave me alone!"

The contrast was cruel. Inside the room, Fay was curled in a ball on the expensive rug, crying for the girl she used to be, the one who believed in marriage booths and forever. She felt like a bird in a cage, being watched by millions of eyes she never asked for.

Outside, on the narrow balcony overlooking the dark sea, Kei sat slumped against the railing. The billionaire CEO, the woman who could buy entire companies with a signature, looked utterly defeated.

She didn't have a blanket, only her silk robe to shield her from the humid but biting ocean wind. She stared at her hands, the same hands that had just held Fay, feeling the ghost of that warmth fading away.

Meanwhile, the digital world was throwing a party.

@BridgeShipper:"They're probably cuddling in that big villa right now. Imagine being that loved. I'm so happy for them!"

@DailyGossip:"Sources say the couple spent a 'deeply emotional' night on the beach. Is a proposal next?"

Every time Fay's phone buzzed with a new "congratulations" text from a colleague or a news alert, she flinched. The world was celebrating a love story that felt more like a war zone.

She looked at the bed the single, king-sized bed with the rose petals. It looked like a mockery now. She grabbed a pillow and threw it at the door.

On the balcony, Kei didn't try to knock again. She knew she had earned this silence. She curled her knees to her chest, watching the stars. She remembered the 18+ night at Fay's house, the way Fay had whispered her name like it was a prayer. And she remembered the ten years of ghosting that made that prayer feel like a sin.

"I'm sorry,"

.

Kei whispered into the wind, knowing Fay couldn't hear her.

.

"I'm sorry I let them turn us into a show."

As the sun began to peek over the horizon, painting the batangas sky in shades of orange and pink, the fans online were posting "Good morning to the happy couple!"

.

.

Inside, Fay was asleep on the floor, her face stained with salt. Outside, Kei was shivering, watching the first light of day hit the glass door that separated them a barrier much thicker than just a sheet of glass.
