Chapter 229 - Chapter 0229 - Magic Trap Bites Back Again

Why? Hadn't that thing already been bounced back to the hand? He had destroyed one and blown one away, and he still could not get rid of this thing. On what grounds?

"Jetroid's effect," Yugen said. "When this card is selected as an attack target by the opponent, its controller can activate a Trap Card from the hand."

"Activate from the hand..." The Bishop's face twisted as he glared murderously at the little humanoid jet.

So you, with those honest-looking thick eyebrows, are also an accomplice of the Underworld?

"Magic Cylinder negates the opponent's attack and reflects damage equal to that Monster's ATK."

"Ugh!"

Mermaid Knight's claw struck through Magic Cylinder and slammed into the Bishop himself, tearing open his flesh and knocking him flat onto his back.

Desrook Archfiend, LP 1550 to LP 50.

"Urgh... damn it..."

With only 50 LP left, his Life Points had fallen to the brink. That blow hurt him to the bone, and the fear that followed left his hands and feet cold.

If the monster he had Summoned had not been Mermaid Knight, but that 1600 ATK Aqua monster instead, he would have killed himself on the spot. He looked at Yugen in shock.

So there really are traps that still don't run out even after being blown away like that...

"Ugh, but now your Magic Cylinder has been used up!" the Bishop shouted angrily. "Because of Double Attack, Mermaid Knight can still make its second attack this turn!

Mermaid Knight, continue attacking Jetroid!"

Yugen smiled faintly. "Then Jetroid's effect activates again," he said. "When it is selected as an attack target, I activate a Trap Card from my hand."

Desrook Archfiend froze. This thing doesn't have a Once Per Turn? And you still have another trap in hand?

His eyes widened. "Don't tell me it's another Magic Cylinder..."

Even as he said it, he felt how absurd it sounded. If the other side could really pull out a second Magic Cylinder from hand, he was going to call the police.

"No, no," Yugen said with a cheerful smile. "What are the odds of that?

The trap I'm activating from my hand this time is this one, A Hero Emerges."

The Trap Card appeared in front of him. "When the opponent declares an attack, Special Summon one Monster from the hand. The opponent must attack that Monster." (ANIME EFFECT)

"Not Magic Cylinder..." The Bishop instinctively let out a breath of relief. Good. At least this man still had some basic decency and had not pulled out a second Magic Cylinder.

Then he caught himself. Wait. Special Summon a Monster from the hand. Doesn't that mean...

"Special Summon Reflect Bounder."

Yugen revealed the only Monster in his hand. Reflect Bounder, ATK 1700.

"When the attack position Reflect Bounder is attacked by an opponent's Monster, the opponent takes damage equal to the attacking Monster's ATK," Yugen said. (ANIME EFFECT)

Desrook Archfiend fell silent.

Nani?!???

A mask of pain spread across the Bishop's face. Fear, despair, and rage all gathered there at once, as if every hardship in life had been pressed into a single expression.

What the hell. A humanoid Magic Cylinder!?

"Therefore, Reflect Bounder's effect." Yugen gave a light wave of his hand. "Take your own reflected attack damage one more time."

The mirror magician rotated both palms and took the hit head-on with the mirror on his chest. But the energy was instantly absorbed by the mirrored surface and shot back as a beam of reflected golden light toward Desrook Archfiend.

"Aaaaargh!!!"

Desrook Archfiend, LP 50 to LP 0.

After watching his teammate get executed right in front of him, Patrician of Darkness fell silent for a long while. Then he quietly backed away, returned to the corner of the cell, and sat there with his knees drawn to his chest.

Ever since he had been brought into the Bunker, ever since he had been locked inside this cage, he had dreamed every day of breaking out and taking revenge on these lackeys of the Dark God. He had wanted to make them understand the price of offending the Earl. But now, for the first time in his life, he suddenly felt that this cage was actually a pretty good place.

It was not comfortable, but at least it gave him more of a sense of safety than the outside world. The world beyond the bars was simply too terrifying.

After dealing with the Desrook Archfiend who had come to break him out, Yugen clapped his hands and turned to look at Patrician of Darkness inside the cell. "Coming out?" he asked.

Patrician of Darkness shook his head frantically. "No, no. I'm fine right here... haha."

He tried hard to force a smile, but when that rotten zombie face split open, it only looked even more horrifying. Somehow, it also looked a little ridiculous.

"You're sure you don't want to come out?" Yugen asked patiently. "Think it through. Your brothers do not risk their lives to break you out every day. If you miss today, there will not be a next time."

Patrician of Darkness kept shaking his head. "I'm not going out. No matter what, I'm not going out. This place is great, super comfortable. I really love it here."

"Oh, I see." Yugen nodded and bent down to pick up the Deck from the dead Desrook Archfiend, along with the key that had fallen to the ground.

The key slid into the lock, followed by a series of clattering sounds. Then Patrician of Darkness stared with wide eyes as the cell door that had trapped him for who knew how long, and had now ironically become the last barrier between him and the Fiend, was unlocked.

The door slowly opened, and the smiling Fiend stepped inside with an icy whisper. "If you're not coming out, then I'll come in."

Patrician of Darkness shuddered from head to toe. No, do not come in.

Thinking of his teammate's miserable death just now, of how the man had used every method he had and only managed to scrape away 200 Life Points before dying to his own double attack under that chain of impossible traps, the Earl understood one thing after a single short Duel. This was absolutely not an opponent he could afford to provoke.

And if he dared to play cards with this person, he would definitely die a miserable death. Then he quickly realized something even more terrifying.

"Y-you..." He stared fixedly at the mechanical Duel Disk in the other's hand, one he had never seen before. "Why can you still use the power of cards here?"

Yugen looked puzzled. "What's strange about that?"

"Every cage should have a Barrier set up inside it." Patrician of Darkness looked at him with growing shock. "To still use the power of cards inside the Barrier... who exactly are you?"

"This?" Yugen vaguely guessed what was going on. So that was it. The power of Spirits was bound inside this prison, so they could not Summon a Duel Disk.

But Yugen was not a Spirit at all, and his Duel Disk was not some kind of Spirit magic either. Kaiba Corporation, kid.

Yugen immediately understood. Oh, so you can't play cards in here. That only made things better, since it skipped the whole card-playing part.

Without another word, he directly Summoned Jinzo and blasted Patrician of Darkness in the face with a psychic shockwave. Patrician of Darkness let out a scream.

With his ability sealed, Patrician of Darkness had no power to resist at all. The psychic blast tore a hole straight through his chest, and soon his body gave off a golden glow before breaking apart into specks of light and disappearing.
