The explorer was silent.
It quietly cut through the thick fog that shrouded Isla de Muerta.
This island, which in pirate legends was depicted as the very gates of hell, to Roger, felt like a classic case of buyer's remorse versus seller's show.
"Is that all?"
Roger stood at the bow, facing the damp, cold sea breeze, and posed a soul-searching question, like a seasoned bad reviewer, to the barren black rock island before him.
"Where's the promised Skeleton Mountain? Where are the wails of the undead?"
"It has no gravitas at all."
He ranted wildly in his mind.
Didn't the legends say that this place was filled with eerie winds and ghostly aura, and that any living person who walked through it would lose ten years of their life?
But now, aside from feeling that the air smelled a bit too fishy, he felt absolutely nothing.
Bad review! Must give a bad review!
"Captain, are we...are we really going to dock here?"
Gibbs rubbed his hands, his old face wrinkled like dried orange peel from nervousness.
His single eye darted around in terror, as if a headless ghost knight would pop out of a rock crevice any second.
"Nonsense."
Roger rolled his eyes at him.
"Since we've come all this way, we can't just take a photo and post it on our Moments, can we?"
Although these illiterate pirates didn't understand what Moments was, they could hear the impatience in Roger's words.
"According to the markings on the chart, go around that corner ahead, and there's a natural cave. Take the ship in there, and everyone get ready to work!"
Roger gave the order.
the explorer skillfully maneuvered around a jagged submerged reef and entered a very secluded natural cove, surrounded by massive rock walls.
This was the fishing ground Roger had carefully chosen.
A perfect trap.
"Alright, brothers, bring out our secret weapons for this trip!"
Roger clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention.
Soon, Billy and Hanson, grunting and puffing, carried several incredibly heavy, huge wooden crates onto the deck.
As soon as the crates were opened, everyone gasped.
The crates didn't contain gold and silver treasures, but bundles of massive ropes, as thick as an adult's arm, soaked in a special oil.
And nets woven from these ropes, with large amounts of gleaming iron chains and barbed hooks interspersed in the gaps...
Were these even fishing nets?
These were clearly steel cages specifically designed to capture prehistoric behemoths!
"Captain... this thing..."
Billy swallowed, feeling his throat a bit dry.
"Are we planning to hunt sea monsters?"
"Sea monsters?" Roger chuckled.
He walked up to a fishing net and kicked the cold, hard iron chain. "No, our target today is much more exciting than sea monsters."
He grinned broadly as he looked around at everyone.
"Today, we're going to use this thing to net a ship!"
Net a ship?!
The pirates exchanged glances, and all saw four big words on each other's faces.
"The Captain is crazy."
They had seen ships sunk by cannon fire, and ships captured by boarding and close combat.
But to net a ship with a fishing net?
What kind of whimsical tactic was this?
"I know what you're thinking."
Roger could guess the mental state of these idiots with his toes.
"You all think I'm crazy, right?"
"I'm telling you! Fighting those unkillable monsters on the black pearl with bayonets is what only idiots do!"
"They're unkillable, aren't they?"
"Fine! I won't kill you, but I can tie you up, right?"
"If you can't kill them, control them! If you can't beat them, play keep-away!"
"This is tactics, do you all understand?!"
"Learn from it!"
Roger's words delivered an unprecedented shock and baptism to the pirates' meager tactical understanding.
That's right!
If we can't kill them, we can tie them up!
Just like catching wild boars.
No matter how fierce you are, one net and you're obediently subdued, aren't you?
The Captain is indeed the Captain!
His brain is just better than ours!
