Chapter 98 - 191 You Are Not the One I'm Waiting For

"Have you forgotten my spatial magic?"

"Well, I have to say, sometimes these things really do work." Tony said with a hint of sourness, looking at the spatial tunnel that Chen Chen had casually drawn.

A louder siren sounded nearby, and a series of red and blue lights appeared in front of Tony and his companions. Tony looked at Pepper affectionately, "Honey, I'll be back soon." Then he stepped directly into the spatial portal.

Rose Hills, Tennessee.

It was already 7 pm, the sun had long since set, and white snowflakes were drifting in the night sky, appearing like winter fairies under the streetlights.

On the street, however, there were two people dressed rather strangely. One was wearing an expensive black casual suit, with flashy orange sunglasses, and carrying a red and silver metal box.

The other person was entirely black, with black hair and pupils, and wore a black cloak. Underneath, he wore a pure black suit resembling an Eastern cultivation robe. In this cold night with snow falling all around, the two walked slowly side by side.

"We've arrived. Whether we can uncover the truth now depends on your so-called clues." Looking up at the vast expanse of white snow, Chen Chen, who already knew everything, said to Tony with feigned concern.

"Chad Davis." Tony tapped his smartwatch, and a bunch of information related to Chad Davis was projected directly onto the screen.

"The clue I'm referring to is this guy. He's a former soldier. The explosion occurred at a temperature of 3,000 degrees Celsius. Although the media has been saying that he was mentally unstable or suffered from post-war syndrome, which led him to carry a bomb and detonate it, I don't think the incident is that simple."

"I always felt that he was being used by someone."

Chen Chen glanced at the information on Tony's holographic projection and raised an eyebrow. "You mean Mandarin used him?"

"Very likely, so now it's time for us to verify the information. *Snap!* Tony snapped his fingers, a confident smile spreading across his face. "And according to the information provided by Weiss, this poor guy has a mother left here, so we'll start with his mother; there's a good chance we can get some useful information from her."

After saying that, Tony picked up his red and silver metal case and strode up in front of Chen Chen.

Fifteen minutes later, the two arrived at the entrance of a bar called "TALKER'S".

The bar appeared quite shabby from the outside, and both its name and the glimpse of the interior through the windows suggested it primarily catered to the lower classes. According to available information, Chad Davis's mother had been a regular customer since her son's death.

As they entered, their appearance attracted a lot of attention.

"Buddy, I haven't eaten all day. I'll take care of this first, you go and deal with Ms. Davis yourself." After saying that, Chen Chen went straight to the front desk and looked at the menu.

"This guy..." Tony shook his head speechlessly at Chen Chen's casual demeanor. When they were forging the Shadow Armor, Chen Chen had gone a week without food or water to maintain the energy output for the forging, without showing any signs of physical discomfort or hunger. Yet now, after just one day without eating, he's complaining of being hungry?

"If you don't want to deal with old women, just say so. Why play these tricks?"

Ignoring Chen Chen's behavior, Tony scanned the bar, finally fixing his gaze on a woman with long blonde hair who appeared to be in her fifties or sixties. He walked over to her through the crowd.

"Ms. Davis, may we sit here?" Tony asked, flashing his white teeth.

"Of course, that's your prerogative." Ms. Davis seemed somewhat disheartened, looking at Tony who had sat down. She asked coldly, "Well, what do you want to say?"

Sensing Ms. Davis's indifference, Tony knew that lengthy preamble was unwise, so he cut to the chase.

"Ms. Davis, we are saddened by the loss of your son, but we would like to know your thoughts on this matter."

When Ms. Davis heard Tony mention "son," she seemed somewhat distraught, her body trembling slightly. "I don't want to say anything about my son!"

He pulled a thick file from his briefcase and slammed it down in front of Tony. "Anyway, I've brought the file you wanted."

"Take it and leave now, don't let me see you again. Also, whatever is written inside is none of his business."

Upon hearing Ms. Davis's words, Tony paused. "She's waiting for someone? The person who could have arranged to meet her beforehand is most likely someone connected to the bombing."

He took the file, quickly opened it, and read, "That's right, this contains Davis's personal information."

Tony closed the file, stared at Ms. Davis, and said, "Clearly you're waiting for someone. Who are you waiting for?"

"Ms. Davis, you can trust me. I am absolutely certain that your son did not commit suicide. I can assure you that he did not intend to kill anyone. He was used as a weapon."

"Hmm?" Noticing that Tony's words were somewhat incoherent, Ms. Davis sensed something was off and suddenly leaned closer to Tony, asking warily, "You weren't the one who invited me here?"

"No."

"Actually, I am." Suddenly, a female voice came, and a short-haired woman with a scar on her face appeared next to Tony without any warning. Before Tony could react, she punched Tony in the head with a fierce gust of wind.

Tony tried to turn away from the attack, but it was too late. "Damn it!"

However, this sudden and fierce attack stopped just before it was about to hit Tony.

"Bang!"

A thin menu appeared in front of the fist, blocking its wave-like attack.

"Huh?" The woman seemed extremely shocked by what was happening before her eyes. Her pupils contracted sharply, and she quickly backed away, her eyes fixed on the front. What she saw was a dark figure.

"Tony, you really were careless. If that punch had landed, you probably wouldn't have even had a chance to put on your armor." Giving Tony a big eye roll, Chen Chen used the menu in his hand and complained, "The thing is, I haven't even ordered anything to eat yet."

At this moment, the customers in the bar also noticed the conflict and turned to watch the commotion with curious eyes.
