Chapter 37 - Betrayal

Sansa's POV

It felt like the world froze in time. Or maybe it didn't, and I was the only one frozen in place.

Their lips were still locked together, Natalie's fingers curled around Lucien's shoulders like she had every right to touch him that way.

Like she belonged there.

My chest tightened painfully as the sound of their kiss echoed louder in my head than it should have.

I couldn't breathe.

Natalie finally pulled away, her gaze drifting lazily past Lucien's shoulder until it landed on me.

For a moment, her eyes widened in surprise. Then she turned back to Lucien.

"What's she doing here?" she asked, her voice laced with restrained irritation as her gaze flicked back to me.

"Well…" Lucien said, stuttering slightly. "She was just about leaving. I called her to clean up something I spilled in the room, but she was already on her way out." He chuckled nervously.

My vision blurred at his words.

I was just about leaving? I came here to clean?
