Sansa's POV
"I can explain," I said quickly, my voice a little shaky. Jason's eyes weren't on me anymore. They had shifted past my shoulder, fixed on someone behind me. I didn't need to guess too hard who it was—Alex.
But when I turned, it wasn't him. My heart skipped a beat as I caught sight of Melissa making her way down toward us.
My brows knitted in surprise. 'What is she doing here?' I wondered to myself.
"Vanessa, why are you here?" Jason asked, forcing my attention back on him. Then it bounced right back to Melissa, who had closed the last few steps between us and was standing with that usual smile of hers.
"Well, uhh… I came to—" I stammered, completely unsure of what to say. The situation felt layered in things I didn't understand. What did Jason know? What did Melissa know? What had either of them seen? My tongue tangled over the words, and nothing came out right.
