Chapter 111 - Rightly so

Koa's POV

Dante felt himself grin as his staff laughed after Victoria exited the premises. Clearly, nobody was reading between the lines of what she had just said. 

To them, she was simply upset because she had been fired. And rightly so.

'Nobody,' he reminded himself as he strode back to his seat in his office, 'was going anywhere.'

He paid them a fortune, more than other prestige companies ever would. He had paid her well too, for all the work she had put in, for all the effort, for all the hours she had silently carried. And now she had the audacity to pull a stunt like that in front of everyone, as if he hadn't rewarded her for a fraction of what she had done.

Dante hadn't meant to fire her. He had just been agitated, and when he was agitated, he tended to say things he didn't mean. If she had truly understood the kind of person she was working for, she should have known better. She should have given him space. Waited. Let him call her back.
