Victoria waited, holding her breath, expecting Dante to say he was joking. But deep down, she knew better. Dante didn't say things he didn't mean. Like the time he'd fired her.
She took a hesitant step toward him, noticing how awkwardly the one shoe she had on made contact with the floor. Every step made her stomach twist.
When she finally stood in front of him, she snatched the paper from his hand. Her fingers trembled as she scanned it. Then she sank onto the bed, her shoulders slumping.
"You made me sign this… when I was drunk? You didn't even think to wait until I was sober. This is illegal!"
"You insisted…" Dante began, but she cut him off.
"When I was drunk?!"
"Not just that," he said calmly. "You insisted for this to happen last night, after I told you who the man you were supposed to marry is."
Her head snapped up. "I searched him online. He's not anyone famous."
