Seraphina's Point Of View
"You've got a beautiful smile."
For a moment I simply stood there.
The words hung in the air between us, casual, confident, like he hadn't just said something capable of short-circuiting my brain.
My eyes stayed on him.
He didn't look embarrassed. Didn't rush to soften the comment or pretend it had slipped out by accident. He held my gaze with that same calm expression, like compliments were as normal to him as breathing.
Then the elevator chimed.
The doors began sliding shut.
He lifted one hand in a small wave just before they closed. The last thing I saw was the faint curve of his smile, and a little wink before the metal doors sealed him inside.
I stayed where I was for another second.
"Okay…" I muttered quietly.
I blinked.
"What was that?"
My cheeks still felt warm. I rubbed my face with both hands, letting out a long breath.
