Seraphina's Point Of View
"Hey Seraphina."
My frown deepened… not slightly, not politely. It carved itself across my face, sharp enough that I felt the tension pulling at my temples as I stared at Lydia. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to brighten her smug expression, highlighting every calculated angle of her performance.
She stood there like she owned the moment, her posture perfect, her chin lifted just so. Like she'd been rehearsing this confrontation in front of her mirror. Like she'd been counting down the hours until she could deliver whatever blow she'd prepared. And judging by the gleam in her eyes, she was savoring every second.
Of course she was.
"Hey," I replied flatly, my tone matching the expression etched on my face. The single syllable landed between us like a stone. "What do you want?"
She blinked at me with exaggerated innocence, then laughed… light, airy, utterly fake. The sound grated against my nerves like nails on a chalkboard.
