Seraphina's Point Of View
"Someone asked him to do it," I said, letting the words hang in the air between us.
Silence didn't follow.
No.
It fractured.
"What?!" someone blurted from behind, the shock evident in their rising pitch.
"You're serious?" another voice came, louder now, sharper, cutting through the murmurs like a blade.
"Someone asked him to fire Ms. Vale?"
"That means, this wasn't even his decision?" The disbelief rippled outward, spreading like wildfire through the gathered crowd.
"And I was feeling sorry for him," a guy scoffed somewhere to my left, his tone dripping with contempt. "Serves him right."
"Exactly," a woman added quickly, her voice tight with vindication. "He definitely got what he deserved."
"I hope the person who paid him gets exposed too," someone else muttered darkly, the anger barely contained beneath the surface.
"Honestly," another voice chimed in, trembling with indignation, "people like that shouldn't even be allowed near this company."
