Edward's Point Of View
The door to the boardroom shut behind the last of them with a soft click that somehow sounded louder than all the arguing that had filled the room minutes ago.
Silence.
Finally.
I exhaled slow, heavy. loosening my tie with a sharp tug as I walked back into my office. My shoulders felt tight, like someone had wound steel wires beneath my skin and pulled them taut. The tension had been building all morning, coiling through my muscles with each pointless objection, each spineless suggestion.
"Useless…" I muttered under my breath, dropping a file onto my desk with a dull thud. The sound punctuated my frustration. "All of them. Completely useless."
I sank into my chair, the leather creaking faintly beneath my weight as I leaned back and dragged a hand over my face. The familiar scent of expensive upholstery did nothing to calm me.
