Despite Huang Li's words, he still wasn't able to calm his beating heart; just as he expected, his grandfather wasn't finished with his words just yet.
"As for how I feel about you two... to be quite honest, I have the intense urge to beat you up."
Huang Li rubbed the bridge of his brows, his face scrunching up as azure lightning danced around his body for a few seconds before eventually calming down as he sighed.
"Aigh, whatever... Mei'er has been forced to stay together with your good-for-nothing father for way too long, unable to pursue her own happiness during that time. I guess it's good that she found happiness in her own way... even if it does piss me off."
Huang Shi gulped, his hands trembling beneath his robes as the golden flames surrounding his fingertips kept dancing—their warmth his only source of solace.
Fuck... this is embarrassing as hell... shouldn't this type of conversation happen when both she and I are around? Why is it just me taking the brunt of the scolding!
"As for you, child, I guess I can't place complete blame on you for this situation. After all... I've long since found out that Mei'er has had those types of feelings toward you for a long, long time. It's just that I never thought anything would happen between you two since you've always been rejecting her... guess I was too complacent."
Huang Shi tried to open his mouth, finding words to say, trying his best to salvage the situation, and yet once again, his grandfather spoke up first.
"Alright, child, don't worry... this old man won't get between whatever the two of you do in the future... just make me this promise..."
Huang Li's eyes suddenly flashed with azure lightning as the entire room trembled. His now-blue eyes stared at him with a dark and menacing expression.
Fuck, fuck, fuck... I'm gonna get beat up. Shit, shit, shit.
"If you ever think of betraying her, hurting her, abandoning her, or think of replacing her with someone else—no matter how strong you become—I swear to the gods that I will hunt you down and beat you up so badly that even your mother in the afterlife won't recognize you anymore!"
Huang Shi instantly nodded his head, his expression a mask of forced calm despite the rampaging emotions within him, as he puffed up his chest and spoke with a grim tone.
"Of course, Grandfather! Mei'er is my beloved; she is mine, and I will never abandon her!"
Huang Li stared into his grandson's eyes, trying to find any semblance of falsehood but failing to find any.
He gave one final sigh as the lightning that shone with crackling lights in the room disappeared, before he walked toward the sofa and sat down for a while, once again rubbing his forehead.

"Alright, child. I know how much you've changed these past few days, and so I trust your words. Sit across from me. Now that I've become much stronger and will likely be even stronger in the future... our plans can be accomplished much easier."
Seeing his grandfather change the topic of conversation let Huang Shi finally breathe a sigh of relief as he nodded his head before sitting across from him at the table.
Shit... I actually survived that. Fuck... guess Mei'er did a bit of help on the outside…
Truth be told, things went a lot smoother than he expected. He knew that if the situation were reversed and he found out that his adopted daughter started sleeping with the kid she raised, he would raise hell on earth; considering that his grandfather, despite his love for him, didn't outright kill him meant that Li Mei had already smoothed things out for him in the background.
Alright... guess I won't punish her for this… but crap… this situation is a lot more complicated than it had to be.
It probably would have been better for him if he had rejected his stepmother's advancements on that night; he probably would have had a much smoother life in the Azure Dragon Sect. But the moment he saw his Mei'er, it was like falling in love at first sight, and he knew that he had to have her.

Now that things had calmed down between the both of them, he and his grandfather started discussing what to do about their revenge on his father and the Disciplinary Hall of the sect.

Huang Li's blue eyes flashed with azure lightning sparks as he spoke with conviction.
"This means that if you are able to prove to them that you have sufficient potential, combat prowess, and a number of allies to help with your plans, they are likely to support you as well!"
Huang Shi clenched his fists beneath his robes, his mind spinning with thoughts. Before long, he opened his mouth and spoke.
"Will winning the Azure Dragon Sect Martial Arts Competition be enough?"
Huang Li suddenly paused, thinking for a bit before giving a solemn nod of his head.
"Yes! Most likely that will be enough. I will be the one to talk to them first; once I'm done, you can meet with them before the competition starts so you can acquaint yourself with each other. After that, it all comes down to proving your worth!"
