"Let's go back!"
On the morning of the tenth day at the farm, after Slater finished a delicious breakfast Hunter had prepared for her.
She got up of her own accord to wash the dishes.
Immediately afterward, she made the suggestion to Hunter.
In the blink of an eye, from Slater being kidnapped by Steve.
To being rescued by Hunter and then fleeing to hide in this family farm far from Los Angeles.
More than ten days had already passed!
For a workaholic, not going to work for more than ten days was absolutely unbearable.
Slater now felt uncomfortable all over.
She worried whether Brief Locksmith Company would face retaliation from Steve.
She also didn't know how Charlie and the others were doing.
Of course, Slater was unwilling to admit.
That another important reason she was so eager to leave this farm and return to work.
Was that she couldn't accept the fact that her Lockpicking talent was far inferior to Hunter's.
Hunter looked at Slater calmly, then nodded, and then shook his head.
"I'm leaving today, but Slater, you need to stay a bit longer."
Slater's beautiful brows immediately furrowed, and her emerald-like eyes seemed to possess a soul-stirring power.
"Why?" she asked, a bit unhappy.
Hunter said, "I'll go investigate the situation with Steve first."
"I'll only feel at ease letting you go back once I've ensured your safety."
Slater shook her head. "I'll go back with you!"
Previously, she hadn't been very familiar with Hunter, and it was just a temporary disappearance for her.
So Slater could accept it!
But now, after spending ten or so days together,
Slater had already become well-acquainted with Hunter!
Regarding this Asian young man who was not yet nineteen, handsome, had a pitiful background (referring to Hunter being an orphan), was hardworking and ambitious, and possessed various life skills,
Slater felt sympathy, but she also had a significant amount of goodwill toward this Asian young man who was eight years younger than her.
"I can't let you go take risks alone!"
"Especially since it's for my sake!"
Hunter knew that Slater meant well.
But he still couldn't agree!
He wiped the smile from his face and looked at Slater seriously. "Don't be stubborn, Slater."
"With my skills and reconnaissance abilities, approaching Steve's villa—or even sneaking back inside—isn't difficult."
"I'll go check out your company and the area near your residence to make sure no one is watching."
"I'll only feel comfortable letting you go back once I've confirmed it's safe."
"Although I've only dealt with Steve twice, according to the intelligence I've gathered, he's a ruthless guy."
"The reason he didn't kill you back then was only because he wanted to use you as bait to lure out Charlie and the others, who he mistakenly thought had stolen his gold."
Memories of her kidnapping by Steve during those two days suddenly flashed through Slater's mind, and her expression immediately became uneasy.
Although she hadn't been assaulted and her life hadn't been threatened,
Slater had indeed experienced Steve's talent for tormenting people.
With a great beauty right in front of him, he hadn't even thought about laying a finger on her.
Instead, he tied Slater up and starved her for two days, only giving her a few cups of water and not a single bite of food.
Furthermore, during those two days, Steve didn't give her any freedom of movement at all.
Even her basic physiological needs had to be dealt with while she was tied up.
One could imagine how terrible all of this was for a woman, especially a beautiful one.
Regardless, Slater felt that those two days she was kidnapped by Steve were truly worse than death.
Suddenly, she shuddered.
"Then..."
Seeing that she was about to speak again, Hunter immediately stopped Slater.
"I'll be back before tonight. No matter what, I promise I won't stop you from going back after tomorrow."
Seeing his firm attitude, Slater hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright then!"
Having finally convinced her, he rested for a short while.
Then Hunter set off and began his return to Los Angeles.
He rode very fast, and over an hour later, he was back within the city limits of Los Angeles.
Since it was closer to the city center, Hunter first went to Slater's company.
Seeing that everything at the company was normal, with the female receptionist still working her usual shifts,
Hunter checked the vicinity of the company and found no one monitoring it.
Only then did he leave and drive toward Steve's villa.
During the few days the motorcycle had been at the farm, Hunter had repainted it and given it a completely new finish.
As for the license plate, he had naturally swapped it for a fake one.
He had spent some time at Old Parker's Repair shop and helped him with some private modification jobs.
He naturally knew some places to order custom fake plates, and for convenience, he had ordered a dozen or so fake motorcycle plates to carry with him.
The motorcycle soon arrived at Steve's villa, but it was beyond Hunter's expectations.
Steve's villa had already been cordoned off with police tape.
Even the guard booth that used to be outside the villa on 24-hour duty had been dismantled and removed.
The villa's main gate and the front perimeter wall had suffered significant collapses.
Looking at the upturned earth, it wasn't hard to see that explosives had once been detonated there.
"That night, it couldn't have been just the grenade I threw."
"Did Charlie and his group also use explosives here at Steve's villa?"
"Good grief, looks like the power wasn't small either."
Hunter remembered that when he was leaving with Slater that night,
He vaguely seemed to have heard Charlie calling out Slater's name.
Charlie and his group had also gone to Steve's villa that night, wanting to rescue Slater.
Hunter naturally knew this!
After all, if Charlie and the others hadn't drawn away Steve's attention, it would have been impossible for him to shoot out the Power Box in the villa and take the opportunity to rescue Slater.
But Hunter didn't know what happened after that.
From the state of destruction at the villa, he had already begun to realize something.
I'm afraid that on that night, after I rescued Slater, Charlie and his group caused quite a scene here at Steve's villa.
Hunter stared intently at the villa for a while, and after confirming that no one should be living there anymore,
He quickly went down to the bottom of the cliff behind the villa. After a careful inspection,
Hunter discovered that the Climbing Pitons he had previously driven into the cliff had all been removed; not a single one remained.
"What exactly happened after we left that night?"
Filled with doubt, Hunter drove toward Slater's residence again.
A short while later, after arriving at her home,
He performed a careful check and confirmed no one was watching.
Only then did Hunter quietly approach the mailbox. Finding it empty,
He thought for a moment and pulled out a piece of wire.
Easily picking the lock to Slater's apartment door, Hunter slipped inside.
The first thing he saw on the floor behind the apartment door were a dozen or so letter-like items..
