I woke up feeling different, feeling lighter. The heat that had been burning through me for days was finally easing. Not gone completely, but manageable. I could think clearly again. I could move around without any pain now. I could actually function like a normal wolf.
"Thank god," I whispered. "Thank god for it is finally passing. This heat nearly broke me. It nearly destroyed my life."
I got out of bed slowly. My whole body was sore. Muscles I did not even know I had were aching. But it was a good pain. The kind that came from being thoroughly loved by your mate. From being taken care of by your Alpha. From surviving something difficult.
I dressed carefully, choosing a simple blue dress that was soft against my sensitive skin. Every movement was deliberate and calculated. Every action took longer than it should have. But I did not mind. It felt good to be in control of my own body again, and my body felt so light.
