Chapter 87 - 4 DAYS (5)- EVOLUTION

AKAME ASSASINATION (22)

SMOKE SOLDIERS.

This is an emission, conjuration and manipulation type ability that involves conjuring smoke soldiers to fight for you. The ability itself isn't all that impressive on its own, but with a smart fragment user commanding it then it can get a bit tricky.

Fragment abilities aren't set in stone as you can evolve along with the ability you produce. A great example is Gil's electrostatic potential difference, now its no longer about him switching places but rather generating an actual thunder bolt due to the laws of electrostatics.

The said could be said for Donovan's smoke soldiers, they mostly have two main functions.

ATTACK! Or GALLERY FAKE!

Two simple commands that they can't fail to accomplish. Gallery fake allows the soldiers to look exactly like whoever or whatever Donovan would like them to look into, him, his allies on the front lines, or maybe even an enemy to catch them by surprise.

Although at this point in time he had to evolve yet again.

HOLLOW WHITE SOLDIERS: GALLERY FAKE!

Using his cigarette he blew out a cloud of smoke which then turned into more smoke soldiers and further more each turned into Gil.

'I can't have that kid dying on me now, especially since my intel on their whereabouts only brought me this far. His stubbornness tells me he won't give up until he beats this thing.'

"I have a plan." Donovan briefed him, "We're gonna exorcise it and I need you to create another one of those thunder bolts."

"I can do that easily. It won't take that long."

"We need a big one and we need a real one, not a transmuted one."

GRR!

It would seem the creature got bored of waiting for them to make the first move, so it rushed them with its tendrils that stuck out like needles that seemed to move in random directions.

"Soldiers attack!" Donovan commanded his smoke puppets which took on the form of Gil.

"Darkness, must eat." The creature responded grabbing one of the Gil's clones.

POOF!

It applied so much force that the smoke soldier popped, returning back into its smoke self. But just as the creature thought it had finished off one, more Gils started jumping on it and attacking it from behind.

"This is a weird experience I never thought I'd see."

"Well its about to get weirder. I've got an idea. We're create a lightning bolt using real lightning."

Gil shrugged, "I'm no good at conjuration."

"That's fine, we're gonna be summoning lightning anyway."

 "Real lightning, how exactly?"

He pointed up and Gil's eyes followed. Dark gray clouds had began to gather above their heads. "Fragment storms are just regular storms with the addition of fragments in the air. More fragments condense in a place and voids appear. But a storm's a storm anyway. So…"

"We then create a region of positive charges down here and a region of negative charges up there creating a region of potential difference which will cause the clouds to discharge the excess electrons in the form of lightning. I then catch and redirect that lightning through my body as though I was a conductor."

"?" Donovan was taken aback, "Maybe you're not so stupid afterall."

"Blake forced me to read a bunch of books on lightning and the laws of electrostatics and the point theory, not that I understood anything from any of my readings." He smiled at himself, "But I did understand a good amount."

"Anyway, that's the plan. We can't do anything about the negative charges in the clouds but we can increase the positive charges down here using my smoke."

Donovan only had one functional hand, as you might remember the other one got cut of by the creature that stood before them. With a lit cigarette in one hand and determination in the other the two would attempt to exorcise a demon void with nothing more than the principals of physics.

The more smoke he puffed out the more positive charges he distributed throughout the entire plane. It wouldn't take long before a lightning strike.

The creature itself seemed busy, very busy tearing up Gils left and right as though they were nothing more than pieces of paper. The soldiers themselves didn't seem to have as much co-ordination as the ones that Nina used on Jericho, perhaps it had to do with Donovan's current state of mind.

Then again to make a perfect clone of Gil there are two conditions that must be met.

Donovan has to personally know him. Donovan has see all of his movements.

When these conditions are met, then the perfect clones of anyone can be made. But all he had to go off of was Gil's first movements, the ones he had witnessed while fighting him.

As Donovan tried to regulate the situation, Gil was busy taking off his shirt since it had a hole in it anyway. He then took a stance as he mentally prepared himself for what was to come. Because of his relationship to electrostatic charges he was able to sense the ionization of the molecules in the air.

 DUN!

But then something felt off, the creature stopped its onslaught and just stood there, its back turned towards Gil.

"Now overwhelm it." Donovan gave another command. The horde of Gils moved towards the creature as fast as they could. Jumping on top of it, some even tried strangling it.

DUN!

Something's off.

Gil could feel it in the creatures demeanor. It now breathed slower and was much more calm. It didn't go down, rather it stood and took on the horde of Gils pouring at it. Until finally it turned and faced Donovan Its eyes black not with a blind rage but with something more sinister.

SLICE!

From all over its body spikes made of a black substance erupted. Like thorns from a rose flower. As it went through the smoke Gils the exploded and returned to smoke.

"Damn it, its more relaxed." Donovan tried making more smoke soldiers but the creature had moved.

His breathing became uneven for a moment, but he got it back to normal. A bit of fear began seeping into him, but he curled it at that very moment.

 "Darkness must eat."

Donovan turned back immediately, however, it wasn't behind him but rather in front of him. In that slight moment, Donovan's life would've ended. It would've if not for Gil's expert thinking. In a flash Gil appeared before the creature placing his palm on its back.

PALM: BLUE ELECTRIC SHOCK!

This was a monumental moment for Gil in his understanding of the basic principals the man in white had originally taught him. He had seen Donovan use palm in a similar manor prior. He seemed to have added an elemental release to it. Gil thought he should and could do the same thing. It was the same as miniature thunder bolts he shot out using the principal of electrical discharge.

"He copied me after only seeing it once." Donovan became astounded by what he saw as the creature's skin began to peel off slowly revealing layers of a black substance underneath.
