Yeara's lips parted softly as she stared at Ella, whose face had also turned sad. Ella just stood there, the book in her hands slipping to the floor with a soft thud.
Even the sound of the falling book did not bring her back—her eyes remained fixed on Lady Persophone as tears began to roll down uncontrollably. She spoke softly, words trembling out:
"M…Mama…"
Yeara's eyes widened as she watched Lady Persophone walk quickly, her steps hurried, toward Ella. Little Cedric finally shifted his gaze to his mama, who was going toward a lady he had never met.
Yeara finally realized that the daughter Lady Persophone had been searching for had been Ella all along. She had not even known, not even the time she had suggested they take her friend from the orphanage so they could adopt them both.
She had no idea that this friend she had spoken about was her mama's biological daughter.
