Chapter 147 - Chapter 147: Jiraiya

You, Namikaze Minato, are Tsunade's disciple?

This doesn't make sense!

This is completely wrong!

Seeing Minato's utterly bewildered expression, Jiraiya suddenly felt his entire worldview crumbling.

Just two days ago, the Third Hokage had sent him a message about Minato.

Upon receiving the news, Jiraiya immediately rushed back to the village, eager to meet this disciple from a parallel timeline.

The moment he arrived, he was escorted to the Hokage's Office and informed that Minato had killed Danzo.

While Jiraiya never liked Danzo either, he still felt Minato had gone too far. After all, Danzo was a high-ranking member of the village.

He planned to have a good talk with Minato, hoping that their teacher-student bond would earn him some respect.

But the moment they met, he was told that this Minato wasn't his disciple at all?

Jiraiya felt like a complete fool.

He grew flustered and desperate. "But this is wrong! How could you have become Tsunade's disciple?"

Where's my disciple?

How could my perfect Yellow Flash, Nagato, have become Tsunade's disciple?

Jiraiya stood frozen, as if struck by lightning.

"What the hell is this?! How did you awaken Wood Release, you brat?!"

"I'm not entirely sure," Minato replied gently. "But after awakening Wood Release at age five, Teacher Tsunade took me as her disciple."

Not just a disciple, but a child husband, a slave owner too—

Jiraiya stared blankly at the tiny sapling, utterly dumbfounded.

Oh no, there's a bull!

A bull!

He wasn't actually upset about Minato becoming Tsunade's disciple.

What bothered him was that this Minato seemed more talented and powerful than the Minato of this world.

Did that mean he was misguiding his student?

The Minato of this world was already exceptional, but he only began to shine after graduating from the Ninja Academy. Jiraiya's voice trembled: "What—what has Tsunade taught you?"

So much!

From Ninjutsu theory to hygiene—

We haven't started practical training yet, but she's already handed me the dog leash.

Minato thought to himself, his mind involuntarily grumbling.

"Hmm—I know all the ninjutsu from the Forbidden Scroll! Plus Medical Ninjutsu, Monstrous Strength, Uzumaki Sealing Techniques, Slug Summoning Technique, and all five Chakra Nature Transformations—"

Jiraiya's face twitched violently.

Still so well-rounded?

Could Tsunade really be a better teacher for Minato than me?

Come to think of it, that seems to be the case—

With Minato's speed and Tsunade's Monstrous Strength, no one in the world could withstand such overwhelming offensive power.

I'd originally wanted to use my status as a teacher to comfort Minato and properly guide this parallel world's disciple.

But now it seems he won't give me that courtesy.

Especially since this kid has even read the Forbidden Scroll. That means he was groomed as the Hokage heir in his original world. Why would he care what I think?

No wonder he's so hot-tempered, killing Danzo over a disagreement.

So he was taught by Tsunade—

That makes perfect sense!

As they spoke, inside the Hokage Office Building, Sarutobi Hiruzen and the two Advisors exchanged glances.

"Damn, we picked the wrong person!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen slapped his forehead, his face full of frustration.

Utatane Koharu, looking exasperated, said, "Stop saying useless things. Hurry up and send someone to notify Tsunade."

Sarutobi Hiruzen nodded and immediately sent someone to find Tsunade.

Meanwhile, on the training ground, Minato was curiously observing Jiraiya.

"In this world, am I your disciple, Senior Jiraiya?"

"What's wrong?" Jiraiya narrowed his eyes. "The Minato of this world can't use Wood Release. I taught him everything I could. Does being my disciple really bother you?"

"No, I'm just curious. I thought the Minato of this world had lost everyone close to him."

Minato ruffled Naruto's hair beside him. "I thought everyone close to the Minato of this world had died."

The words struck Jiraiya dumb. His face flushed crimson, and he struggled to find a response.

Should he say he didn't know Naruto's identity?

The higher-ups had indeed hidden Naruto's identity, but given his relationship with Minato and his wife, how could Naruto's identity be hard to guess?

Blonde hair, blue eyes, Uzumaki surname—anyone familiar with Minato's family background could figure it out.

Should he say he'd been searching for the Child of Prophecy all these years? That was even more absurd!

It wasn't like he was being asked to take responsibility. As the Grandmaster, hadn't he spared even a glance for the child over the years?

As for the excuse that the higher-ups forbade him from approaching Jinchūriki, that was laughable.

Did Jiraiya really need to fear the higher-ups when caring for a child?

"I... I'm sorry." Jiraiya's throat caught before he managed to say the words, his voice dry and hoarse.

"Why are you apologizing to me? I'm not the Minato of this world."

Minato couldn't help but smile. "I stayed to take care of Naruto for two reasons. First, I consider him my child. Second, I wanted to gain some experience in raising a child in advance. But thanks to Naruto, I've come to see some things more clearly."

Jiraiya's expression grew complex, and he struggled to find the right words. He had never felt so tongue-tied.

No matter how you looked at it, the village owed Minato and his wife for what had happened to Naruto. There was no defending that.

"Don't worry. I was trained to become Hokage, after all. Even if I don't care about you, I'll respect the position itself. As long as you don't provoke me, I have no intention of targeting anyone."

Minato shook his head, easily guessing why Jiraiya had shown up. After all, he was the original Minato's teacher and Naruto's Grandmaster. Eventually, he would have to leave, and it wouldn't be right to offend everyone and then wash his hands of the matter, leaving Naruto to clean up the mess.

"Hey, who's this old man?" Naruto tilted his head, looking at Jiraiya with genuine confusion.

"This is Jiraiya, one of the Three Great Sannin, and your father's teacher," Minato introduced.

Naruto murmured an "Oh" and fell silent.

Seeing this, Jiraiya felt even worse.

Minato glanced at Jiraiya. "We've trained enough for today. If there's nothing else, we should head back."

"Wait, hold on!"

Jiraiya quickly called out, pulling Minato aside.

Though he felt guilty towards Naruto and speechless, there were things he still needed to warn him about.

Jiraiya lowered his voice. "You're using Shadow Clones to train Naruto, right? The Nine-Tails' seal—"

Minato shook his head. "I've already negotiated with the Nine-Tails. It won't interfere with Naruto's Chakra flow."

"???"

Jiraiya looked utterly bewildered.

You can negotiate with that thing?

Then what's the point of a Jinchūriki?

Worried that Minato was being deceived by the Nine-Tails, Jiraiya quickly added, "Listen to me, Minato. That Nine-Tails is cunning and treacherous. Its greatest skill is manipulating people—"

"That's just your perspective."

Minato shook his head with a wry smile. "You were living peacefully at home when one day, that madman Uchiha Madara broke in, controlled you with Genjutsu, and forced you into slavery. Then Senju Hashirama came and locked you up in prison."

"Not only that, but you were chained down and had your blood drained every few days. If it were you, would you be in a good mood?"

Jiraiya: "—"

Seeing Jiraiya still hesitant to speak, Minato sighed in exasperation and raised his fist.

Jiraiya instinctively bumped fists with him, and in the next instant, he found himself inside the Sealing Space within Minato's body.

Jiraiya shook his head, only to feel a shadow fall over him. He instinctively looked up, and his body froze in place—
