We somehow ended up wasting an entire hour with me doing nothing but petting Kayden.
One hour.
I had originally planned to carve his energy stones. Instead, I sat there stroking his silver scales while he happily curled around me like an oversized, living blanket.
At some point, I must have gotten too comfortable because I eventually fell asleep, and when I finally woke up, the first thing I saw was Kayden staring directly at me.
He opened his mouth, probably about to say something that would manipulate me into petting him again but I immediately shoved his head away.
"Don't. I still need to finish your energy stones today."
I scrambled to my feet before he could protest and hurried toward the table where I had laid out all my tools and energy stones.
Work. I needed to work. No distractions. No petting. And certainly no giant leviathan puppy nonsense.
I reached the table and picked up my carving tools.
"Stay there—"
When I turned around, he had already surrounded me again.
