Lyra's POV
Despite Alaric and Ash warning me against it, I deliberately disregarded their advice and made my way across campus to Xander's residence after our morning training session ended.
Both men insisted he was emotionally volatile right now, but I believed this was actually the perfect opportunity. While his defenses were down and his emotions running high, I could potentially turn his raw feelings to my advantage.
That was my plan, anyway.
My feet carried me up the weathered wooden steps leading to Xander's front door. The unusual silence struck me immediately - no thundering music echoed from within the walls like it typically did. Scattered red plastic cups littered the front porch, remnants of whatever party they had thrown over the weekend that clearly still needed attention.
