Chapter 484 - Chapter 481: There is a Human Who Wants to See You

Everything turned out exactly as Talulah had anticipated. When everyone learned that Jeanne, who had been asleep for five whole days, had regained consciousness and appeared completely fine, the tension in their voices relaxed a bit. Although they hadn't let their expressions show it over the past few days, how could they not worry in their hearts about a friend who hadn't shown a single sign of waking up for five days?

Everyone had been worried that those Sarkaz might have used some unknown underhanded trick during the battle, causing Jeanne to sleep—or rather, remain in a coma—until now without a single sign of waking! Even Patriot, who knew exactly what Sarkaz witchcraft was capable of, had begun to worry about Jeanne despite previously believing she was fine, though he kept a very calm exterior. After Kal'tsit went to confirm Jeanne's physical condition, he had even gone out of his way to ask her exactly why Jeanne hadn't woken up for such a long time.

Although this kind of thing had happened before, it had never lasted this long! In the past, no matter how exhausted Jeanne was, she would wake up after sleeping for just one or two days. A one- or two-day slumber, while surprising in duration, was something even Patriot himself had experienced before, so it wouldn't cause anyone to worry about her health.

However, not even Kal'tsit could determine exactly why Jeanne had slept for so long. She could only guess, based on the steadily growing mana inside her body, that the child was replenishing her empty energy reserves through sleep. Patriot also reasoned that Jeanne had gone through a series of high-intensity battles, coupled with several days of poor rest that left her overly exhausted, causing her to enter a prolonged deep slumber.

If this kind of explanation were applied to anyone else, there would only be one possibility: the doctor had a grudge against the patient and was using a ridiculous excuse to make them miss the window for emergency resuscitation. But if it happened to Jeanne, it was practically normal! This child possessed all sorts of unique traits, so having one more unusual characteristic was nothing special.

Yet, despite everyone's excitement, no one ran over to the vicinity of Jeanne's house to disturb her right after she woke up; they simply discussed the matter among themselves.

Naturally, Talulah did not forget to inform Kal'tsit. She still remembered that the doctor had inquired about Jeanne's condition while she was fast asleep, so she walked quickly to Kal'tsit's room and knocked on the door.

Knock, knock... knock!

"Who is it?"

After Talulah knocked lightly on the door a few times, Kal'tsit immediately inquired from within using a tone laced with a hint of vigilance. It seemed she was indeed handling some rather private matters in her room.

However, Talulah failed to notice that slight hint of vigilance in Kal'tsit's voice. On one hand, the emotion in Kal'tsit's words was truly exceptionally difficult for anyone to detect; on the other hand, the reason lay within Talulah herself. She was currently in a state where her friend had successfully awakened, making everything she looked at seem wonderful. Her entire mood was exceptionally joyful and excited, so she naturally didn't pick up on Kal'tsit's abnormality.

Still, Talulah could hear that Kal'tsit seemed to be speaking to someone in the room. Although she wasn't sure what device they were using to communicate, Talulah had no intention of intruding and simply spoke from outside the door:

"Dr. Kal'tsit, I came to let you know that Jeanne just woke up. Didn't you say earlier that you had something to discuss with her? Jeanne said she will come find you tomorrow."

When Talulah's words fell, Kal'tsit's hand inside the room paused for a moment. After freezing in place for a few seconds, she calmly replied, "I understand."

Upon hearing Kal'tsit's response, Talulah did not continue to disturb her. She simply said goodbye and left, leaving Kal'tsit with the space to handle her private affairs.

"So you heard that as well. The child has only just awakened. Therefore, I will say it one more time: do not use this communicator to contact me for trivial matters. This is an emergency device, not a chatting application!"

Once Talulah had departed, Kal'tsit turned toward the communicator in her room with quite a bit of impatience. Clearly, the person on the other end of the line had disturbed her more than once over the past few days. From the tone of her voice, one could guess that the doctor's patience had been practically worn down by the other party over these last few days. If conditions hadn't forbidden it, she would very likely have given the fellow on the other end a thorough thrashing.

Unfortunately, no matter how profoundly vast the knowledge in Kal'tsit's brain was, she didn't possess the ability to crawl through a communicator to beat someone up. That completely exceeded the scope of what Terran science could handle. Fortunately, Kal'tsit wasn't entirely without options; she could commit every single instance of the other party provoking and angering her during her time here to memory, and settle the scores one by one when she returned!

"Alright, alright, alright. Haven't I just been a bit too overly excited lately? It wasn't easy waiting for such a piece of good news, so I got a bit thrilled. I will do my best to maintain my composure..."

From the other side of the communicator came none other than the voice of the Doctor far away at Babel. It appeared they could hardly contain their impatience to meet Jeanne.

Kal'tsit stared silently at the communicator, seemingly visualizing the other party sitting on the other side with a placating expression, speaking to her with an air of nonchalance. Feeling the fire of irritation inside her burn even hotter, Kal'tsit found herself in a state where she wanted to punch that annoying fellow directly into a wall, the kind where they couldn't even be pried out.

"But speaking of which, isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to refer to that one as a child? Even though she was only nineteen when she died, her actual existing age is definitely greater than yours or mine! Shouldn't we be calling her an ancestor..."

Seeing Kal'tsit fall into silence, the Doctor on the other side immediately began to ramble with statements that sounded entirely unguided by a brain. Kal'tsit felt as though the individual were a wasp buzzing relentlessly around her. She was starting to regret things; she really should be present at Babel right now, so she and Mon3tr could pin this fellow against a wall and give them a brutal beating. Of course, this would have to be done away from little Amiya to avoid corrupting the child.

"If it is all going to be this kind of nutrient-deficient talk, then hang up! I will not say this a third time!" Kal'tsit said impatiently in a tone that was practically a command. She was well aware that at a time like this, she needed to be as firm as possible to prevent this shameless fellow from acting a fool again.

If the communicator she was holding had an off-switch, she would have turned it off long ago! Even though the Doctor claimed this was due to a flaw in the previous design, Kal'tsit suspected the other party had done it intentionally.

Such a strict demeanor proved highly effective. Hearing that Kal'tsit was becoming genuinely impatient, the fellow stopped their meaningless chatter, leaving only a final sentence before quickly disconnecting the transmission.

"Theresa said she is also very interested in that girl, and hopes you can at least find an opportunity for the two of them to speak once."

As the words faded, the blue light representing an active transmission shifted back to a red indicator light. Kal'tsit stood frozen there for a long time after hearing this sentence, unable to decipher what business Theresa could possibly have with this child. But she was merely a bit puzzled; perhaps Theresa possessed insights they couldn't fathom? Kal'tsit subsequently resumed writing her documents, which were the Oripathy condition analyses for everyone in the village.

She patiently waited until the following day. When Jeanne arrived in the room to see her, the two of them sat in silence, staring at one another across the space.

"It appears you have indeed fully recovered. It is truly miraculous. You are the strangest individual I have encountered in all my years!" Looking at the vibrant Jeanne before her and sensing the massive volume of energy inside her body, Kal'tsit spoke straight from the heart.

The girl was indeed the most wondrous person among the countless lives she had witnessed, because many aspects of her could not be granted a logical explanation, which left Kal'tsit intensely curious.

"However, let us address official business first," Kal'tsit said slowly, locking her eyes onto Jeanne's. "A friend of mine on my side wishes to meet you, and hopes to invite you to Babel for a discussion. And she is also... a human!"
