Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Incompatible thoughts

Le Tu sat down alongside the other thirty-five immortals.

In a massive round table that looked comically big.

Each Immortal was given a distance of 10 meters to remain by themselves, whilst they had a banquet being served to them.

Being served by the most beautiful men and women, who had their heads lowered in reverence.

Amidst the group of mortals, there were several Rank 4 and even Rank 5 Gu Masters, but their status was irrelevant before them.

Before Immortal,s even the strongest mortals were but ants they could easily step on.

The Immortals discussed telepathically; not a single word came out of their mouths, as they did not feel like revealing state secrets to mere lackeys.

Of course, apart from politics, they all said grandiose discourse, ceaseless praising, and bickering.

Actually, that was also why they did not speak directly in front of their subordinates, as their casual talk would dilute their grandstanding and status.

Regardless.

Countless Immortals' eyes were flickering towards Le Tu and Qin Jiji, expectantly.

Qin Jiji was known to be a very vindictive person, and considering the humiliation she suffered, many people expected that she would retaliate the first chance she got.

Others also observed Le Tu, trying to see if his ego would be inflated and he would behave recklessly.

Jin Qu Yu observed Qin Jiji attentively; the grudge between her and her Clan had not been forgotten.

Qin Jiji turned her gaze on her.

The woman with a long ponytail and silver hair her gaze seemed venomous and filled with hatred. At that, Qin Jiji snorted coldly.

"So, what of it? I killed your dear brother-in-law, but that is the Fate he chose for himself. Had he not joined, would he have died?"

Then a tiny smile appeared on her face.

"Still, what a generous guy, to think that he would actually have in his aperture the recipe of Experience Gu." She chuckled internally at his stupidity.

As she thought of this, she could not help but recall that month when she fought for the inheritance, which was one of the most humiliating experiences in her whole life.

It was not without gain.

Not only did she find Experience Gu's recipe, but during her stay, she gained plenty of insights regarding Fire Path and managed to deduce in one go the Recipe of 'Willful Flame.'

Finally, she rapidly got plenty of resources, and due to lucky coincidences during the Refinement, she successfully refined the two Immortal Gu.

Those Gu would fetch for over 20,000 Immortal Essence Stones each if she so willed.

Not that she had the intention to sell them anyhow.

Still, her expression flickered, turning towards Le T,u who was bored out of his mind.

His mind turned towards the starry skies that could be observed from the windows.

She pressed her fingers on the table repeatedly before deciding to stand up.

She began to stroll around.

Currently, they were resting in a massive Gu House named 'Endless Halls of Purple Gold.'

And as its name stated, it was an enormous luxury mansion, whose walls were decorated and painted in gold and purple.

With countless amethysts and gold surrounding the area, as well as a red carpet.

Furthermore, there were also countless of beautiful exotic flowers and plants.

There was an aromatic scent that dulled the senses, while there were countless of projections scattered everywhere.

There, one could easily see the news regarding TYH and broadcast them, one could also get up and insert a recorded video to enjoy freely.

And it was not only so luxurious, but its speed was also top-notch.

As of now, they were flying above ten thousand kilometers away from the surface.

From those heights, one could already begin to discern the white and black heavens that were constantly spinning around.

As well as countless blue vortexes. That moved in hypnotic patterns.

It was quite the sight.

Le Tu's gaze perpetually remained fixed in the skies above; he observed and embraced every single minuscule detail, using his Investigative Methods to peer at the Heavens.

Whilst he could not gain much, he managed to outline the general shape of White Heaven, and could more or less pinpoint the places Kao Dao Ji spoke in his letter.

Still, Le Tu's mind wandered.

"I wonder how beautiful the skies were back when the 9 Immemorial Heavens existed."

Suddenly.

He felt a tiny hand touching his shoulder.

It was a charming young woman.

"The Heavens are truly beautiful, don't you agree?" She spoke in an enchanting tone.

Le Tu chuckled.

"You know, I am not gullible I know what you are trying to do by coming onto me, but.

I can tell another thing."

"When you spoke about the Heavens above, your smile grew ever brighter and more genuine. You have yearned to soar the skies since you were young, have you?" He smiled at her kindly as he turned his face to meet her gaze.

A complicated expression appeared on her face.

"You could say so. From a young age, I always yearned for the skies. The civilizations beneath, they always felt so oppressive."

Le Tu frowned deeply.

The woman ahead of him was known as Hui Gui Yu, a lone Immortal who was seldom seen.

Yet who carried a deep reputation, she was an excellent healer and manager of Cultivation resources, focusing mainly on the Transformation Path.

Or at least the rumors said so; there was too little information about her to be found anywhere.

And yet. She always called for important meetings and even took part in communications between Rank 7 and Rank 8 Gu Immortals.

"I guess she must be a pawn from a greater force." Le Tu closed his eyes briefly before sighing.

"While I do not understand what's troubling you, nor if you are able to share it. Please feel free to vent any worries you may have. You do not have to be alone."

Hui Gui Yu's eyelids trembled.

She had heard similar words a hundred of times by now.

Yet they had never felt quite as genuine as the seemingly plain bald man in front of her.

She bit her lips before walking away.

She headed towards one of the bathrooms, generally reserved for mortals, before slamming the door shut.

Her eyes flickered as she ensured nobody was tailing her, and once she was absolutely certain.

Her expression contorted.

"How…How does he dare? How does he dare to pity me?" Her voice trembled, turning grave as she spoke.

She gritted her teeth as her rage reached its peak; her body grew more muscular.

A body taller and wider than that of a bodybuilder took shape.

The feminine face, completely gone.

"No, no…I have to hold it on…" The voice that now turned into that of a man spoke in a rough tone.

As he regained a semblance of control, he stared at his face.

On one side, there was a feminine, beautiful face with long hair, on the other, a completely fierce and savage looking young man, from whom the beard had already taken hold.

They took a deep sigh.

"This always happens when I let one of my halves roam free for long…" The two voices spoke, and as they did, their voices slowly became more synchronous.

An androgenous being whose features looked both feminine and masculine took shape.

"But it cannot be helped. To more effectively get close to the others, a feminine appearance is most suitable. Furthermore, the others only know of this appearance…" Regretfully, they enabled the feminine appearance to return.

A vague sensation of disappointment dwelling in their hearts.

Before it was fully extinguished.

Only cold rage remained in their expression.

"Father. Oh father. There will come a day when we will return to the Northern Plains. And we will take our revenge in full."

"But for now, we still need to serve that old dog. Crimson Soul."

Kao Dao Ji remained in his aperture, reading the notes that Le Tu had sent him.

In his hands, there was a Clouded Thoughts Gu.

"Yang Seeks Yin, Yin seeks Yang." Of course, the effect was relatively minute.

In most instances, it was almost unfelt like the gravitational tide of a pebble was hardly a factor.

But when the quantities reached the extreme.

Clouded Thoughts Gu was suddenly sent flying away.

Of course, it soon scattered into mist, as the rapid speeds exploded the Gu.

He repeated the experiment again, this time adding some minor protection to the Gu, a trace of soft enveloping mist protecting the Gu as it accelerated.

Raising the Yin to the extreme, he drove and pushed away the Clouded Thoughts Gu, raising the Yan,g he attracted it.

Suddenly.

Enlightenment appeared in his expression.

"That Sunshine Beam I saw during my Tribulation must have followed similar principles."

"By raising the Yang to the Extreme, a pushing force was unleashed which exploded the Sunny Thoughts, producing the attack. (I said Yang instead of Yin, because the effect is reversed in this Gu.)

Of course, that was only a factor. My Sunny Thoughts Gu does not pack the punch that the move did, but I guess a similar effect could be achieved if you add a few other Wisdom Path Gu Worms."

Of course, even though he knew this, that did not mean he would be able to replicate it.

But it was a start, besides his new knowledge would do him a huge favor when his next Tribulation took place.

Especially because that was not the only idea he had received.

Kao Yun Yun's words took place in his mind.

"If what you said is true, then it does seem that I misunderstood Clouded Thoughts Gu all along.

Before, I assumed that they were pure noise, nonsensical thoughts that led nowhere, and thus could not be processed by the brain.

However, the fact that they were made use of within the Tribulation suggests another possibility.

What if those thoughts can actually be handled, just not by ordinary races?

In the same way, you could not receive a transplant from a pig's heart; Clouded Thoughts Gu are not compatible with the human mind.

Before, I never considered such a possibility, as I had conducted extensive animal testing and none showed signs of a proper response.

However, it now does seem that I took the wrong approach. Only a Cloud Path brain could handle such thoughts."

At that Kao Dao Ji smiled.

His physiology was rather more vague than for others, for ordinary Immortals, while there were plentiful of ways to modify the brain, they were filled with deep peril and danger.

The slightest mistake could make them brain-dead.

But as long as he did not blow out half of his body, or something similar, there should be little danger to him.

At most, a few mental lakes. And lost memories, but nothing in comparison to the risks others took.

But the main question was.

Could he afford to expend his time on yet another tangent?
