"Feeling better?" Elliot asked, his voice low and deep, carrying the steady authority of an Alpha who was used to being obeyed.
The dizzy rush in my head was fading, my vision finally steadying, and that was when I fully realized where I was trapped in Elliot's arms. His presence surrounded me, warm and overwhelming, his dominance pressing softly against my instincts. Startled, I quickly stepped back, trying to put distance between us.
I took one step too many.
My back slammed into the edge of the table behind me.
"Ow!" I gasped.
Before I could react, Elliot's arm shot out and pulled me back against him. I had barely escaped his hold moments ago, yet in the blink of an eye, I was caught again. My face collided with the solid planes of his chest. I heard a dull thud, followed by a sharp ache blooming across my cheekbone.
I hadn't even processed the pain when a large hand closed firmly around my wrist.
