I watched Hayley sit stiffly inside the crowded café, her fingers wrapped tightly around the coffee cup while irritation rolled off her scent. The place was filled with humans and low-ranking wolves, their chatter blending with the smell of roasted beans and rain outside the windows. Yet Hayley looked completely out of place now, like a wolf stripped of her territory.
The waiter approached carefully. "Is something wrong with the coffee, miss?"
Hayley's expression twisted with anger. "What kind of garbage did you serve me? There's no fragrance at all. I ordered hand-brewed coffee. Is this instant powder?"
The young waiter lowered his head politely, though I could already smell annoyance beneath his calm expression. "It is hand-brewed coffee, miss."
"This is the worst coffee I've ever tasted," Hayley snapped before standing abruptly from her seat.
The moment she strode toward the entrance, two elegantly dressed women nearby began whispering loud enough for everyone to hear.
