I could tell Rey thought tonight was long overdue. By forcing Hayley to face the truth about the events from five years ago, Elliot had finally stripped away the shield she constantly used to manipulate him. From now on, she could no longer hide behind that incident to gain sympathy or control him.
The atmosphere inside the manor remained heavy beneath Elliot's Alpha presence. Nobody dared speak too loudly, not even the guards standing nearby. Hayley still knelt on the floor with swollen eyes and trembling hands, looking nothing like the proud woman who had once acted like the future Luna of the Presgrave pack.
Finally, Elliot rose from the couch.
The movement alone made the room tense.
He looked exhausted, as though merely staring at Hayley disgusted him now. His silver-gray eyes swept over her one last time before he turned toward the guards. "Get her out of my territory."
The words shattered Hayley completely.
