Her question caught me completely off guard, because I had never really thought that far ahead. After everything in this place was finally settled, my body would only grow heavier, and it would not be easy to move around or search for anything stable in that state.
"I might take a short break," I said quietly.
After the child came, I knew my hands would be full. It would be better to wait until things calmed down before even thinking about the future again.
"That's a good idea," Macy said after a pause. I could tell she was thinking deeply, her voice softer than usual. "You've carried too much because of Ashton. It's time you finally rest. And don't worry, I've saved enough for both of us."
I laughed lightly at that. "Don't stress yourself. I won't be helpless after the separation. I still have my savings." The villa was left by Grandpa, and I wasn't sure yet what I would do with the company shares. Nothing felt certain anymore.
After a few more light words, the call ended.
