I didn't realize how long I stayed in his study until the sky outside turned completely dark. Time slipped away quietly, and even though I hadn't eaten the entire day, my hunger never really came. Only a dull discomfort stayed in my stomach, like my body couldn't decide what it wanted.
Eventually, I went downstairs.
The kitchen still had enough stocked supplies. Stacey had always made sure of that. After searching a little, I found cucumbers in the fridge. I didn't feel like cooking, so I washed a few and decided that would be enough for dinner.
I didn't notice Ashton return.
It wasn't until I walked out with a cucumber in my hand that I saw him sitting in the living room, still and watching.
When did he come back?
His gaze landed on my hand immediately. A frown appeared on his face.
"What are you planning to do with that?" His voice was low, slightly rough.
I blinked, confused. "Eat it, of course."
