"Ms. Larson, you're not me. How would you know that's not what I want?" The words left me before I could stop them, sharp and steady. I stepped into Ashton's office, the air inside heavy with unspoken tension and pack pressure that always tightened when emotions clashed. I looked straight at Rebecca, my gaze cold. "Even if my husband doesn't love me, we have a child now. That makes us a real family. You might not understand it, but not every bond is built on love alone."
Rebecca froze, clearly not expecting me to walk in. Ashton's expression shifted too, his control flickering for a second before settling again. But I didn't stop. I kept my voice calm, even as something inside me burned. "Do you really think you can take his place just because you want to?" I tilted my head slightly. "I wasn't sure before. But now I think I've already won. My child and I come first. Not you, Ms. Larson."
