For a moment, I didn't fully understand what he meant. The air between us felt still, like the whole room was waiting for something I couldn't name.
Then he tilted his lips slightly, that familiar teasing look in his eyes. "Give me a kiss, and I'll tell you."
I frowned immediately. "Nonsense."
I had already checked the document twice. There was nothing wrong with it. Whatever he was thinking, it was just him being difficult again.
He didn't argue. He simply took the files from my hand, one by one, and set them aside. His touch was calm but firm, leaving no room for protest.
"I'll go through these and sign them if they're fine," he said. Then his gaze shifted to me. "Go rest."
His office was large enough to feel like another world. There was even a private lounge inside, built for long nights and silent pressure. I stood my ground.
"I'm not tired," I said.
He didn't even respond.
