Before Macy could finish speaking, I squeezed her hand and gently stopped her. My voice stayed steady as I looked at her.
"Go. I'll be fine."
She hesitated, her grip tightening for a moment, but she eventually nodded. Still, she didn't leave without turning back toward John, her eyes filled with warning.
"If you dare harm her in any way, I'll come for you myself."
John only lifted his brows slightly, saying nothing in response.
Macy left with the man in black following beside her.
Once the door closed, the room felt quieter, but the pressure inside it didn't ease. The woman in the green gown stepped forward again and replaced my tea with a fresh cup. Her movements were smooth and careful, as if she had done this many times.
"If Ms. Stovall is worried about sleep, you can try this one. It won't affect your rest," she said softly, her tone polite and calm.
"Thank you." I offered her a small smile.
