Everyone in this pack treated her like something fragile and precious, and she had never once unlearned the entitlement that came with it.

Something close to amusement moved through me. "No matter how I feel about him, we are still bonded and legally married. I own half the rights to this house. Walking away from that would just be surrendering, and I have no interest in surrendering."
She curled her lip. "Drop the attitude. I am not here to fight over money."
I raised my brows. "That surprises me, considering you already set your sights on my husband."
She opened her mouth but I had already turned away and walked toward the yard, not interested in whatever came next. The air outside had that particular bite that meant autumn had settled properly over K City. I had not realized how much time had passed until I felt it on my skin.
