"You haven't left the office yet?" His voice was calm and completely unreadable.
I glanced at the clock and saw it was already six in the evening. "I have overtime today. What's up?" I had to travel to J City tomorrow and needed to make sure everything was properly in order before then. I tidied the files stacked on my desk and carefully jotted down a few things I still needed to bring along. The phone had gone so quiet that I assumed he had already ended the call, but when I tapped the screen it showed the line was still very much open and active. "I might be pretty late finishing up here tonight," I started to say.
Then I looked up and saw him.
A tall figure stood at the entrance of the office, and every word I had been about to say died completely in my throat. "Didn't the front desk stop you from coming all the way up here?"
