Chapter 159 - Chapter 154: The Incinerated Diary and the Level Upper Incursion

"O-Onee-sama... where on earth did you manage to find that...?" Shirai Kuroko asked cautiously, her voice dropping into a humble, terrified squeak as thick beads of cold sweat broke out across her forehead.

"Hehe. It fell right out of your pocket during our little escape, Kuroko," Misaka Mikoto replied, opening the pink notebook with a terrifyingly gentle, polite smile. "I was originally going to be a good roommate and return it to you unread, but my curiosity got the better of me. And wow... looking through these pages gave me goosebumps, Kuroko."

"I really didn't expect my own dear roommate to have compiled pages upon pages of deeply wicked, illegal strategies targeted directly at me. You've already filled the entire notebook! As expected, your perversion has completely penetrated to the absolute bone. I used to wonder why you always stayed up secretly writing in a diary at night. So that's what it was. It seems Yuuya was right—no normal human being keeps a detailed physical diary anyway."

Mikoto's eyelids twitched wildly as her eyes scanned the horrific schematic drawings inside, and dangerous, high-voltage electric currents began to crackle violently from her bangs.

"T-This... Onee-sama, please let me explain...!" Kuroko swallowed hard, her knees actively shaking under the weight of her sister's icy, murderous gaze.

"There is absolutely no need for explanations, Kuroko. Today, I am going to physically punch all the filth right out of your perverted head!"

Mikoto's fist, heavily enveloped in crackling blue electricity, slammed directly into Kuroko's skull with a resounding, heavy thud.

"Ouch...!" Kuroko cried out, collapsing onto the park grass, though her flushed expression quickly shifted into a deeply masochistic, ecstatic daze. "Hehehe... Oh my god~ the divine high-voltage current of love..."

"However, since the hacker girl at Judgment helped look up Yuuya's file for me, I suppose I have no choice but to go thank her properly," Mikoto muttered, raising her smoking fist.

With a spark, she intentionally ignited the pink notebook, causing the entire paper chronicle of Kuroko's sins to violently burst into flames and dissolve entirely into falling black ash.

"AAAAAHHH—!" Kuroko stared at the miniature fireball with absolute, heartbreaking tears streaming down her face. That was her magnum opus—a flawless multi-phased infiltration strategy plan she had meticulously compiled from various adult magazines over six months!

"Quiet down, Kuroko!" Mikoto's patience completely ran out, a massive 💢 tic mark throbbing on her temple as she delivered a secondary, non-lethal chop to her junior's head. "Seriously, what the hell is wrong with your brain? It's entirely full of weird, unhinged fantasies. You're arguably even weirder than that arrogant bastard Takahashi!"

"This isn't perversion, Onee-sama! This is Kuroko's deepest, purest manifestation of love for you!" Kuroko retorted melodramatically, her eyes brimming with tragic tears.

"You actually still dare to say that out loud?!"

A loud mixture of high-frequency electrical crackling and bizarre screams of agonizing pleasure echoed throughout the deserted park.

On the other side of the district, Index was walking down the sidewalk, glaring angrily at Yuuya with a massive pout on her face.

"Yuuya... do you really like that girl?"

"Well..."

Yuuya looked down at Index, who was vibrating with dissatisfaction and clearly looking for an excuse to bite his arm again, and shrugged with a slight smile.

'Index cares about my presence intensely because, after her memory wipe, I am effectively the most stable, vital anchor in her life,' Yuuya analyzed. 'But her emotional dependence hasn't actually reached the complex level of romantic "love" yet. It's more of a fierce, child-like possessiveness and survival attachment. Seeing me interact closely with other girls just triggers her fear of losing her security blanket.'

"Index, before I directly answer your question, I need you to answer a theological question for me first," Yuuya said smoothly.

"Eh? What question?" Index asked, pouting as she looked up.

"Is God inherently all-loving? Does He love all living human beings equally, completely regardless of their age, gender, or physical appearance?" Yuuya asked with a bright, philosophical smile.

"Of course He does! God inherently loves the entire creation, regardless of whether the world chooses to love Him back!" Index declared devoutly, blinking her green eyes in confusion. She couldn't understand why a pure Science Side Esper like Yuuya was suddenly asking about Christian theology. She knew the scientific factions were strictly atheistic.

"Exactly. So, your previous question was completely meaningless," Yuuya grinned, flawlessly twisting her logic. "Because much like the Divine, I am a profound, dedicated philanthropist. I simply love all people."

He certainly loved people—though his internal definition of "people" was highly restricted to the specific, beautiful girls he found interesting.

"Yuuya... are you just trying to treat me like a fool again?" Index puffed out her cheeks, sensing she was being smooth-talked but unable to counter his theological argument.

"Not at all."

Yuuya patted her silver hair, then secretly pulled up the System Map in his mind, ready to resume hunting down the various latent Treasure Chests scattered across Academy City.

Although the statistical drop rate for high-level rewards from chests below the Silver tier was remarkably low, hunting them down had become an addictive habit. The raw anticipation of opening a hidden chest—where you never truly knew what dimension-breaking treasure was waiting inside until the absolute final microsecond—was an exhilarating rush. It was exactly like buying a lottery ticket with guaranteed fun. Collecting anomalous, strange artifacts from other multiverses felt highly rewarding, even if some items weren't immediately useful. Watching his inventory space expand was a pure dopamine hit.

"Ah, Yuuya, aren't we going to your school today?" Index noticed that the street they were walking down was heading in the complete opposite direction of his high school campus. She tilted her head in curiosity.

"There's no school today. Yesterday was officially the last day of regular curriculum," Yuuya explained, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. "Tomorrow—July 20th—the school will briefly hold the closing ceremony to announce the end of the semester, hand out summer assignments, and then the massive two-month summer vacation officially begins. If you ever feel like going back to the English Puritan headquarters for a brief visit during the break, I can easily teleport us there."

That specific coordinate on his global map was an absolute goldmine—it was the single geographic location packed with the densest concentration of high-level Treasure Chests in the world. More importantly, Archbishop Laura Stuart currently had a glittering Supreme Treasure Chest anchored directly to her body.

Compared to ancient anomalies like Aiwass or deeply entrenched players like Aleister Crowley, Coronzon's Supreme Chest was vastly easier to actively target, since she was a political figure who frequently operating in the open. If he could successfully crack that chest open and extract its contents, he would possess more than enough power to comfortably survive before the true Magic Gods eventually descended to tear up the phases.

There was also the Supreme Chest attached to Index herself. It seemed the progress bar was nearing completion; he simply needed to secure Index's absolute, unshakeable trust to unlock it, becoming the single most important entity in her universe.

'It seems that although Index deeply relies on me and likes me, her subconscious mind still harbors a tiny sliver of instinctual caution,' Yuuya thought. 'But time heals all wounds. Once her long-term memories are entirely filled with images of me, that chest will crack wide open.'

Ping!

Suddenly, Yuuya's mental HUD flashed. A familiar, glowing Silver Treasure Chest icon had just materialized on his mini-map nearby.

He immediately released a passive wave of high-frequency electromagnetic radar. The resulting thermal and acoustic feedback mapping made his eyebrows twitch slightly.

"Let's speed up, Index. Follow me."

Yuuya stuffed his hands into his pockets and smoothly veered into a side street toward the source of the ping, with Index quickly trotting to keep pace. No matter where they went, she always felt completely safe as long as she was by his side.

They navigated through a narrow pedestrian shortcut and stepped into a secluded, concrete alleyway.

"I-I am an official member of Judgment! I... I am placing you all under arrest for unlawful assembly, you...!" A sweet, highly anxious, yet incredibly stubborn voice rang out from the dead end. It was none other than Uiharu Kazari, standing protectively in front of a terrified civilian student.

"Hehe. Hey, look at these two helpless little brats. They still don't understand the reality of their situation," a rough, mocking voice scoffed. "They're just low-level Judgment volunteers with zero combat-viable abilities, yet look how high and mighty they try to act in front of us."

"Hahaha! Look at her, she's literally trembling with fear! These elitist students used to show off and look down on us in the underground all the time!"

A group of seven armed delinquents wearing heavy piercings, chains, and dyed hair completely blocked the alley's exit, laughing wildly without an ounce of restraint as they cornered the middle school girls.

"Do you worthless students really think we're the same weaklings we used to be? We've acquired real power now. So stop pretending you can boss us around just because of your school ranks!"

"Looks like we need to give Judgment a thorough, physical lesson."

BOOM—!

One of the delinquents casually lifted his leg and slammed his boot violently into the concrete brick wall right next to Uiharu's head. The raw impact completely shattered the reinforced brick, leaving a deep, smoking crater and kicking up a cloud of debris.

The sheer, unnatural display of physical strength caused the two cornered girls to let out a terrified shriek, shielding their faces as they sank to the ground.

"Oh?" Yuuya murmured, stepping into the alleyway with a dark, intensely amused smirk. Looks like the Level Upper trend had officially hit the streets of District 7.
