Chapter 47
Monday
The Test
The classroom felt colder than usual.
Desks were separated.
Chairs moved far apart.
Mr. Kim Ku stood in front, holding the question papers like they
were weapons.
"Winter and Minju."
"Lisa and Jennie."
"Han and Jimin."
Names kept being called.
One by one, students moved.
Soon....
.. Only me and Yoongi were left standing.
My heart dropped.
"Both of you sit over there," Mr. Kim Ku said, pointing at a desk near the window.
"You will share one question paper."
Share?!
I swallowed.
We sat down.
Too close.
"Your time starts now."
The clock ticked loudly.
Yoongi's finger brushed mine as he placed the paper on the desk.
"Fighting… good luck," he whispered.
Why does he sound so calm?
I nodded.
Then I looked at the paper.
My soul left my body.
What is this?!
These questions were not what I studied.
This is not what I ordered.
This is what I got.
"Psssst…" Lee Know tried whispering to Jake.
. "Yah! You punks!" Mr. Kim Ku slammed the desk.
Silence.
My brain froze.
Yoongi was already writing.
Fast.
Focused.
His hand was still slightly touching my little finger.
Why is he so warm?
Focus, Ara!
If I fail, I'm dead.
I tried reading question five.
Our fingers brushed again.
I looked at him.
He didn't look back.
Just writing.
Calm.
Confident
"Yahhhhh! Focus!" Mr. Kim Ku shouted and hit the table again.
I jumped.
The moment Mr. Kim turned his back
Yoongi suddenly switched our answer sheets.
My eyes widened.
"Yah! What are you doing?" I whispered.
He didn't answer.
He just circled answers quickly.
His handwriting neat.
Fast.
Before Mr. Kim turned back..
.. He switched them again.
My heart was beating so loudly I thought the whole class could hear it.
I quickly pulled my hand away.
He leaned slightly closer.
"I'm sorry about my dad's attitude," he murmured softly.
My chest tightened.
Why is he apologizing now?
"Yah! Hand me your papers!" Mr. Kim Ku shouted
