Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Mt. Moon

"A Trainer with a Legendary Pokémon?"

At the Pokémon Center in Pewter City, Nurse Joy looked at the group of reporters in front of her, somewhat bewildered.

"That's right, Nurse Joy, this is big news! As far as I know, even at the Indigo Plateau Conference, a Legendary Pokémon captured by a human has never appeared before!"

The reporters were incredibly excited. Not only because of the Legendary Pokémon, but thinking further ahead, this year's Indigo Plateau Conference was sure to be spectacular!

"So, please tell us the location of that Trainer, Nurse Joy, we want to do an interview with him!" one reporter said excitedly.

Nurse Joy blinked, looking even more confused.

"But — that Trainer left Pewter City early this morning!"

"What? Already left?"

"That's right. By my calculations, he should have arrived at Mt. Moon by now, right?" Nurse Joy said gently.

Behind her, Ash and Misty, who had followed along to join the fun, looked disappointed.

"The Legendary Pokémon has already left..." Misty murmured.

"What's the big deal?" Ash said, "Since that Trainer is also traveling, sooner or later, Pikachu and I will meet him!"

"You idiot, Ash, you don't even know what a Legendary Pokémon means!" Misty couldn't help but recall Entei next to Fuyuki in her mind. "But then again, it feels Li Ke news of Legendary Pokémon appearing has become more frequent recently!"

"Hmm... speaking of Legendary Pokémon, when Pikachu and I first left Pallet Town to start our journey, we saw Ho-Oh!" Ash recalled that day's experience.

"Ho-Oh? How is that possible?" Misty looked doubtful. That was a Legendary Pokémon even rarer and more powerful than Entei and the others!

"It's true!" Ash pulled out the rainbow wing from his backpack.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu on Ash's shoulder also testified for him.

"You really are lucky, you guy!" Misty said, very envious.

Just then, the Pokémon Center's automatic doors suddenly opened.

A figure rushed in, holding a severely injured Butterfree.

He ran, shouting, "Someone! Nurse Joy, please save it!"

Nurse Joy looked down at the Butterfree in front of her and immediately frowned.

"What happened? How did this Butterfree get such severe injuries?"

The young man replied, "We just encountered Suicune — it's all my fault, I wanted to catch Suicune too much."

Nurse Joy picked up Butterfree and turned to walk towards the Treatment Room: "It's okay, I'll do my best to treat it."

"Then I'll leave it to you!" the young man said.

"Um, excuse me, the Suicune you mentioned, could it be...?" Ash and Misty ran over.

Some other Trainers in the Pokémon Center, hearing the name Suicune, also gathered around.

"That's right, Suicune is a Legendary Pokémon," the young man said. "I originally wanted to catch this super rare Legendary Pokémon, but it was too strong. It defeated my Butterfree without breaking a sweat, and then disappeared into the forest."

He was a Trainer who had collected five Gym Badges. With such strength, he didn't expect to last even a single move against Suicune.

That Suicune's power was truly terrifying!

Hearing the young man's words, the surrounding Trainers immediately became excited.

Some were eager to try, impatiently running outside.

"Suicune must still be nearby, and I will be the one to catch it!"

Seeing this, Ash and Pikachu also became interested. They followed the crowd, saying, "Let's go take a look too, Pikachu!"

Suicune, it seems, has encountered a little trouble.

On a hillside north of Mt. Moon, Raikou stood gazing into the distance.

However, it quickly withdrew its gaze.

This matter was none of its concern.

If that group of humans could help slow Suicune's pace, it could spend a little more time with Little One, Raikou thought.

The trip to Pewter City ended here.

Fuyuki bid farewell to Entei, and then began his journey with Raikou.

Next, they would cross Mt. Moon and head to Cerulean City to challenge the Cerulean Gym there.

However, speaking of Mt. Moon, isn't this Clefairy's territory?

But why hadn't he seen a single Clefairy?

Fuyuki turned to look around, then ventured into a few caves, only to find groups of sleeping Zubat and Sandshrew inside.

Raikou finally noticed Fuyuki's unusual behavior and couldn't help but ask, "Little One, what are you looking for?"

"I heard that a Pokémon called Clefairy lives on this mountain. They are very rare Pokémon outside! So I wanted to find their home and go see them," Fuyuki replied.

Raikou was stunned: "Clefairy..."

It didn't recognize them.

Just then, Fuyuki suddenly heard a wary voice from the hillside above.

"Hey, who are you? What are you doing here?"

Fuyuki looked up and saw a young man in a white lab coat and glasses, dressed like a researcher, looking at him.

"Um... we're passing Trainers. We're currently preparing to cross Mt. Moon to go to Cerulean City," Fuyuki explained.

"Trainer?" Seymour's gaze involuntarily fell upon the mysterious Pokémon behind the young man.

That was — the Legendary Pokémon, Raikou!

Raikou was looking at him warily. It had been by the Trainer's side, but ever since he appeared, Raikou had subtly moved to block in front of the young man, shielding him behind itself.

"Oh, oh!" Seymour suddenly became excited. "This is magnificent! So touching! Thank you for showing me the warm friendship between humans and Pokémon that I've always dreamed of!"

Fuyuki: "Friendship?"

Seymour was extremely excited: "That's right, looking at Raikou, it clearly likes you very much, even at the risk of its own safety, it stands in front of you to protect you! A Legendary Pokémon actually interacts with a Trainer like a normal Pokémon — meeting you, I am pushed to the highest peak of emotion and excitement!"

"Oh, God! Thank you!"

"Thank you!!!"

Seymour knelt on one knee, arms outstretched, tears streaming down his face.

Raikou: "?"

Is this human sick?

Fuyuki: "..."

He remembered! Ash had also met this strange guy when passing through Mt. Moon in the anime.

He was apparently a researcher from the Pewter City Science Museum, studying the wild Pokémon that inhabit Mt. Moon.

"Thank you so much!" Seymour suddenly stood up from the ground and grabbed Fuyuki's arm. "I'm Seymour, a researcher from the Pewter City Science Museum. Since you want to cross Mt. Moon to go to Cerulean City, let me lead the way for you!"

"Uh... I'm Fuyuki."

"Follow me!" Seymour enthusiastically led the way.

Raikou shook its head at this. It instinctively didn't want to get close to this strange human, nor did it want Little One to approach him.

"It's okay," Fuyuki said, looking at Seymour ahead, reassuring Raikou. "This person is a good person."

Just a bit strange in his behavior.
