Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: Moon Stone

Inside a cave on Mt. Moon.

Seymour led the way, introducing to Fuyuki, "This cave was actually excavated by the people of Pewter City to make travel to Cerulean City more convenient. However, it later became a paradise for wild Pokémon. But don't worry, the wild Pokémon living here are very docile. After passing through here, you'll see Cerulean City!"

"Thank you very much," Fuyuki said politely.

However, he suddenly noticed many dazzling incandescent lights hanging from the ceiling of the cave.

Under the illumination of these lights, the cave, which should have been pitch black, was as bright as day.

And not far away, there were many Pokémon that seemed to be in a strange state.

Fuyuki looked at the scene and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with those Pokémon?"

"Oh, that?" Seymour glanced over there, then sighed helplessly, explaining, "—

Some strange people have made the cave like this, causing the lives of the Pokémon that live here and are accustomed to dark environments to lose their balance."

"Just like those Paras over there, they can't help but plant mushrooms."

Fuyuki looked over and indeed saw a group of Paras using their pincers to pluck the mushrooms from their backs and plant them on the ground. Beside them, a few other Paras were lying on their backs.

"Also, the Sandshrew are so dried out by these incandescent lights that they're almost dehydrated, and the Zubat have become very irritable. I'm patrolling around like this to protect Mt. Moon from being destroyed by bad people," Seymour explained.

"In that case, why not just remove these lights?" Fuyuki frowned, seeing the miserable state of the Pokémon.

"I've removed them many times before, but shortly after I finished, those guys came back and reinstalled the lights," Seymour said. "These lights were installed last night while I was asleep; I haven't had a chance to remove them yet."

"Huh?" Hearing this, a question mark popped up above Fuyuki's head. "What exactly are those people after?"

"For the Moon Stone." Seymour turned around, dropping the playful tone, his expression becoming serious:

"Because the Moon Stone has become too famous."

"The products of the great cosmos, Moon Stones, are rumored to slumber on this mountain. This legend has attracted a large number of Trainers and explorers to Mt. Moon to search for them, but so far, nothing has been found except for some broken rocks."

"Moon Stone—" Fuyuki was stunned. "Is it that rare?"

In his impression, these stones that allow some Pokémon to evolve are very common in the Pokémon world.

"Yes," Seymour nodded. "Ever since the research report on Moon Stones having the ability to strengthen Pokémon's power was published, more and more people have come to Mt. Moon to search for them."

Hearing this, Fuyuki suddenly understood.

So, at this point in time, the news that Moon Stones can evolve specific Pokémon had only just been discovered—no wonder it was like this.

However, Fuyuki, who had grown up living with Pokémon, felt great pity seeing the Paras and Sandshrew around him.

The mushrooms on Paras are very important to them; for them to actively pick the mushrooms and plant them on the ground, this group of Paras must have been somewhat mentally disturbed by the bright environment.

And Raikou, upon seeing the state of these Pokémon, couldn't help but frown.

Humans—it was because of humans again.

Fuyuki stopped, walked up to the miserable Sandshrew, and then took out a bottle of water and some berries from his bag to feed the almost dehydrated Sandshrew.

Seeing the water, the Sandshrew immediately hugged the bottle and gulped it down.

"It's alright, Sandshrew." Fuyuki turned to Raikou and said, "Dad, use your power to extinguish all these lights!"

Raikou nodded slightly.

A powerful electric current was then released from its body. Affected by this current, the incandescent lights throughout the entire Mt. Moon cave simultaneously sparked and flashed, and then the entire cave darkened.

"As expected of a Legendary Pokémon, its power is indeed immense!" Seymour exclaimed excitedly. "Thank you for your willingness to help this time, Fuyuki. The Pokémon here and I both thank you!"

"Jiji!"

The Sandshrew, having drunk an entire bottle of water, slowly recovered. It held the empty water bottle, looking at the human before it with gratitude.

"Seymour, isn't there a Pokémon protection organization in Pewter City?" Fuyuki asked. "These guys' actions have severely affected the Pokémon ecosystem here. The Pokémon League shouldn't permit such behavior, right?"

"Sigh!" Seymour sighed. "Do you think I haven't tried reporting it to Officer Jenny in Pewter City?"

"At that time, Officer Jenny came and arrested a few people, but such behavior isn't a capital offense, so they were released after only a few days."

"But even so, those people still risk coming to Mt. Moon. There's no helping it; Moon Stones, these products from the great cosmos, are simply too rare."

"Hmph," Raikou snorted upon hearing this, saying, "In that case, let me teach these guys a lesson!"

"Have you thought of a method?" Fuyuki asked.

"Beat them until they don't dare to come again!" Raikou said coldly.

Fuyuki: "—" This seemed to be the only way.

The anime also didn't say how it was dealt with later. After a brief contemplation, Fuyuki looked at Seymour and said to him, "Perhaps, we can help."

"What help?" Seymour asked.

"I'll team up with Dad—with Raikou—to teach them a lesson until those guys don't dare to come again."

Fuyuki said.

Seymour: "!!!"

"There are many powerful Trainers among those people!" Seymour exclaimed. "There are even several masters who have collected eight badges and participated in the Indigo League Conference!"

"Hmph, then let them come!" Raikou snorted, stomping its paw heavily on the ground.

"Are you really—sure about this?" Seymour was a little worried. Although Raikou, as a Legendary Pokémon, was very strong, facing so many opponents, it might still be outnumbered.

"Trust us," Fuyuki thought to himself. His second dad was a max-level divine beast!

At worst, he could call for help on the spot and summon Lord Ho-Oh with the rainbow wing.

Hearing this, Seymour's heart suddenly became incredibly excited.

Damn it, let's do it!

"If these incandescent lights can be removed, I will represent the Nibi City Science Museum and the Pokémon of Mt. Moon to present you with a grand gift!" Seymour gripped Fuyuki's hand, his heart swelling with heroic pride.

One against a hundred, what a magnificent, astonishing feat!

Fuyuki subtly withdrew his hand and asked, "When do they usually come?"

"At night. Officer Jenny and I both need to rest at night, and those people will take advantage of this time to come to Mt. Moon!"

Seymour said.

Fuyuki nodded.

Of course, their purpose wasn't merely to teach these guys a lesson, but to dismantle the incandescent lights inside Mt. Moon.

They could come to search for Moon Stones, but only if they wore mining helmets with their own lights.
