What she found in Maya's expression gave her no reason to pause.
"All right," she said, and reached for her tablet to begin the arrangements. "I'll have a nurse bring you the consent documentation. Once that's completed, we'll get you into a procedure room."
Maya accepted the tablet when it was brought to her and read the consent form from beginning to end without skimming it. Every clause. Every listed risk. Every statement confirming that she had been informed and that the decision was hers and freely made. She signed at the bottom with the same even, deliberate hand she brought to every document that required her name.
She set the tablet on the desk and folded her hands in her lap again.
